Pollen counts are due to remain really large till the end of Thursday in most elements of the Uk, apart from Scotland, and are forecast to remain medium to higher for the rest of the week.
But Jean Emberlin, scientific director of Allergy Uk, mentioned the subsequent dry, warm day following the rain would see the return of a really high pollen count.
“If you have a brief spell of rain, pollen accumulates on the grass and doesn’t disperse,” she stated. “But when the sun comes out yet again and it’s a nice dry day with a breeze, all that pollen comes off at as soon as.
“So if it rains at the weekend, the following dry, warm day is going to have a very substantial pollen count and then plenty of folks could suffer, even if they have very a high threshold to pollen.
“It could be the worst situation situation for sufferers or even generate a wave of new people affected by hay fever.”
The Met Office mentioned it would be “unsettled” across central and southern components from Friday with “showers or a lot more persistent rain and a danger of thundery downpours”.
From Monday, it predicted “sunny spells” and warmer situations.
