Mr Carpenter, who had four grandchildren, suffered with diabetes and had not been out of his home in a cul-de-sac in Dover, Kent, for 3 years, neighbours mentioned.
His daughter, Beverley Spicer, said: “He was a bit of a wheeler dealer, you would have noticed him around Dover in his white van and then his pride and joy, his Mercedes car.
“He would in no way be seen with no his dog Sammy, and following Sammy passed away his next beloved puppy Peanut, but in the last ten years his well being and fitness deteriorated which left him a lot more and far more housebound.”
Stewart Underdown, a childhood good friend, explained Mr Carpenter was close friends with top wrestlers Large Daddy and Giant Haystacks and on a tour to India received far more press coverage than the Queen, who was going to at the very same time.
He stated: “He wrestled in front of 100,000 folks out there and was referred to as ‘Clive of England’ in their press.
“He told me a funny story about when he signed an autograph for a child but had no idea how to spell ‘Car-gantula’, so he just did a scrawl, but the kid was pleased sufficient.
“He was a wonderful man, a gentle giant.”
