Another Hawaii doctor, this time a shrink, bites the dust.
It seems that a prominent psychiatrist is facing charges that he improperly prescribed large quantities of powerful pain meds and other drugs to undercover law enforcement officers for nearly two years.
A federal grand jury returned an indictment against the jerk charging him with 22 counts of distributing methadone, morphine, oxycodene, hydromorphone, hydrocodone and the anti-anxiety drugs alprazolam and diazepam, “outside the course of his professional medical purpose from May 2007 to January 2009”. It’s obvious the shrink needed to be shrunk.
When the DEA revoked his license to prescribe controlled substances in 2009, the agency said that he gave prescriptions to undercover law enforcement personnel on 24 different occasions in a two-year period.
The DEA also said that the ditz did not even bother to take the officers’ medical histories or require them to fill out any paperwork nor did he conduct any physical examinations.
But wait, there’s more: the babooz (Hawaiian for imbecile) did not have an exam room or any medical equipment and all the undercover guys had to do was to write down their names and addresses and they drug they wanted on a piece of paper, which was what was used to prepare the prescription.
Just so it wouldn’t be a total loss, the DEA also took the shrink’s business records, real estate and vehicle and had the license to dispense drugs of the pharmacist in the same building, revoked.
It always pays to remember the old joke about the difference between God and a doctor. God doesn’t think He’s a doctor!
We all know that Hawaii is a laid back place. People love wearing board shorts, tank tops and flip-flops. They love going to the beach, having tailgate parties at the drop of a hat, and just being and staying mellow. Yet, in 2011, a record, 36,804 guns were registered, which was a 17% increase over 2010 and 15,375 firearm permits were processed, which was a 20% increase over 2010.
Despite being no way to tally the number of privately owned guns in Hawaii because it’s hard to track how many guns are taken out of the state, the estimate is about 1 million with a population of 1,374,810.
With Honolulu having only 1 shooting range, wait-lists to use it are common.
Officials, politicians and gun shop owners say the increase is due to an interest in personal defense, the threat of stripping away the 2nd amendment of the Constitution by Hillary and the fear of gun shortages.
This frenzy for protection is bringing with it the need for more shooting ranges, firearm lessons and the consciousness that Hawaii’s residents are not going to take martial law ideas lying down.
The word on the street is, “walk softly, but carry a .45”.
Aloha!
