Mother Nature vs. Patented Drugs—one of these was never meant to cure you. Do you know the difference?

It may surprise you to know, the medical diagnosis and drugs you take for it, have only been around for about one hundred years. Prior to the rise of Western Medicine as the standard of care, and patented drugs as their treatment—for millennia-since the beginning of time—Mother Nature reigned supreme. After all, none of us would be alive if our ancestors died on the way to the drugstore.

It may also surprise you to learn that all laboratory-created patented drugs were originally taken from nature. In nature there is balance and order. Plants are living beings that have their own innate intelligence that can restore the human body to balance as well. This intelligence is why a plant can either enhance or diminish a certain condition as needed; as opposed to a laboratory created drug—which has no intelligence, and simply substitutes a pill for a function, until that function is suppressed.

Penicillin was created quite by surprise when Alexander Fleming, Professor of Bacteriology at St. Mary’s Hospital in London, returned from a holiday in 1928, to find a discarded petri dish containing colonies of Staphylococcus bacteria had grown mold while he was away. The area around the mold—later identified as a rare strain of Penicillium notatum—was clear, as if the mold had secreted something that inhibited bacterial growth. Fleming was credited with the discovery of the first antibiotic—a group of compounds capable of inhibiting and killing competing microbial species. This was hailed as the greatest discovery of our time. However, this phenomenon was known long before by ancient Egyptians—who applied poultices of moldy bread to infected wounds.

Antibiotics are naturally occurring compounds produced by bacteria and fungi. Good bacteria balances bad bacteria. Good yeast balances bad yeast. Western Medicine, by simply killing the bad bacteria—upsets the natural balance or order of things by not replenishing the good. With bacteria—it’s always a matter of numbers to keep things in balance. E Coli, for example, can be present in water, but isn’t a problem until the bacteria numbers reach a certain ppm, or parts per million. Simply killing the bacteria does not cause balance—because bacteria are intelligent, opportunistic living organisms and nature abhors a vacuum. Sooner or later, those bacteria that survive will colonize again, unless you seed the body with their competing and balancing good bacteria. Imagine the conversation between those antibiotic surviving superbugs colonizing in your small intestine:

“Dude—you’re a savage —nobody survives that many rounds of streptomycin.”

This is why antibiotics are becoming increasingly less effective. Bacteria and Fungi have the same innate intelligence that most humans do. When you denature them, you rearrange their molecular structure. This is why patented drugs, created in a laboratory, do not bring the condition into balance. Patented drugs are about creating customers who rely on these drugs to function. And because they are not natural molecules that your liver can break down into natural elements for healing—they simply add to the toxic load on your liver. This causes side effects. Which leads to more drugs to combat the side effects– which are sometimes worse than the simple solution to the original problem. All disease is a matter of balance—too little nutrients and too many toxins.

All of us have lost our connection to nature, to our origins, to the earth and plants and soil and organisms that came before us. Ron Finley said it best:
“No one’s a more prolific gangster artist than Mother Nature. We should replicate what she does. Yes it’s art. It’s knowing where life comes from. It’s knowing that nothing ever dies, ever. Nothing dies—it’s the energy transfer.”

Double hand transplant: "It"s a small miracle, looking at what nature has allowed us to do"

It was a moment that mingled triumph with relief as the UK’s first double hand transplant patient awoke from a painstaking 12-hour operation with two new sets of fingers.

“It’s better than a lottery win because you feel whole again,” said Chris King as he recuperated at the Leeds General Infirmary. “They look absolutely tremendous,” he added. “They’re my hands. They really are my hands.”

But despite his joy at the successful surgery, the real test for King may just be beginning. Experience from previous such transplants suggests that the psychological challenges of bearing another person’s hands can be hard to cope with.

Clint Hallam, the patient who received the world’s first hand transplant 1998, claimed that he felt “mentally detached” from the new limb and had it removed three years later in a secret operation.

Nadey Hakim, a surgeon at Imperial College London who was involved in that operation, agrees that for some the psychological impact can be considerable.

“For someone to use someone else’s hands to hold his wife, his kids – it is not easy,” he said. “I don’t think they will ever get used to it fully- they might claim they are used to it, but it is a very difficult task for anyone, even [for those which are] the strongest psychologically.”

King lost the four fingers of each hand in an accident three years ago. He received the double transplant in a lengthy operation conducted by a team of eight surgeons, led by Professor Simon Kay.

While around 80 hand transplants have taken place worldwide, King’s is the first double hand transplant to be carried out in the UK, and the first such procedure to be undertaken since the NHS launched its new hand transplant programme earlier this year.

Kay also carried out the UK’s first single hand transplant in 2012 when Mark Cahill, a former pub landlord, received a new right hand after his own became badly affected by gout and infection.

Cahill is enthusiastic about King’s operation. “I think it is fantastic, I am so happy for him,” he told the Guardian, adding that he hopes that the publicity will result in an increase in the number of donors to the hand transplant programme. “We have got plenty of people wanting hands, but not enough donors,” he said. That, he points out, could be down to the very visible nature of hands, which might make it especially hard for grieving families to give consent for donation. “I imagine it is heartbreaking,” he said.

Since his own operation, Cahill says that not only has he been able to carry out everyday tasks and drive again, but just six weeks ago used his new hands to give CPR to his wife after she suffered a heart attack. “I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my transplanted hand because my other hand was so deformed, I wouldn’t have been able to put any pressure on her,” he said.

As well as taking immunosuppressants, Cahill has been undergoing physiotherapy since the operation to improve the movement in his new hand. But, he says, he has not had any problems in accepting his new appendage.

“I think I was in a fortunate position,” he said. “I had [one] hand amputated and another one put on, so I was never without a hand. It is probably more difficult for people who lose a hand.”

Indeed, doctors stress that how patients feel about the operation is crucial. “The psychological point of view is very, very important,” said Professor Jean-Paul Meningaud of the University Hospital Henri Mondor in Paris. “Otherwise you can have a patient that [is] going to stop taking the treatment.”

For Hallam, the psychological implications post-transplant were apparently so overwhelming that he was unable to live with his new hand. In contrast to King and Cahill, Hallam had been without a hand for many years when he was selected for the operation. He lost it after an accident in prison – where he was serving a sentence for writing bad cheques. One minute he was climbing a ladder with a circular saw, the next he was sprawled on the flood minus his hand. Surgeons attempted to reattach it, but the limb lost sensation and dexterity and had to be removed.

But Hakim rejects Hallam’s claim that he felt psychologically detached from the replacement limb after the later surgery .

“[The hand] was removed 2.5 years [after the transplant], requested by the patient, because he did not have the means to pay for his immunosuppressants,” he said. “The arm itself was in good condition until he stopped taking his anti-rejection medication.”

Other transplants have proved more successful. Another of Hakim’s patients, who underwent a double arm transplant in the US in 2000, is said to be doing extremely well. “He still has, after 16 years, an excellent function of both hands,” said Hakim.

But Meningaud, who has conducted a number of face transplants, as well as the world’s first face and double hand transplant, says the drugs used to prevent rejection are a cause for concern.

“You are going to suffer the side-effects of the immunosuppressant treatments your whole life,” he said, adding that such drugs put patients at increased risk of certain cancers as well as other health issues, while large doses to combat acute rejection can result in kidney damage.

Meningaud says his opinion on face transplants has changed over time, having seen problems with rejection, infection, and even a suicide attempt by a patient. “At the beginning I did not imagine the toll would be so important,” he said.

For King though, the operation has been life-changing. “I could shout from the rooftops and celebrate it big time, which is what I’m going to do,” he told reporters after the operation.

For the surgeons too, the procedure can bring feelings of awe. “You see a dead hand which is completely white, no blood supply to it, no viability, all of a sudden getting the colour of a normal hand. It is incredible,” said Hakim. “It is a small miracle which truly you are looking at in ecstasy, looking at what nature has allowed us to do thanks to modern surgery.”

Memory Enhanced twenty% by Nature Walk

New research finds that brief-term memory is enhanced twenty% by walking in nature, or even just by searching at an image of a normal scene.

I’m sitting in front of the computer and I’ve been operating too challenging for too long without having a break. My brain feels like it’s filling with wet cardboard. In reality what I’m carrying out isn’t writing any much more, it’s just typing. I go to the kitchen, stand there for a minute, can not don’t forget what I’ve come in for, truly feel foolish, then eat a biscuit.

It doesn’t assist.

Time for a walk. But the place to? Possibly into town to choose up some supplies, or maybe the other way, towards the park and the river?

Most of us are mindful that a swift stroll all around the block does wonders for the thoughts. But what a new review reveals is that if you want to come back with your brain energy enhanced, the scenery en route truly matters.

Communing with nature

Marc G. Berman and colleagues at the University of Michigan wanted to test the effect of a walk’s scenery on cognitive perform (Berman, Jonides &amp Kaplan, 2008). In the first of two research participants were given a 35 minute activity involving repeating loads of random numbers back to the experimenter, but in reverse purchase. Following this cognitive psychology particular (!) they have been sent out for a walk – one group around an arboretum and the other down a active city street – the two while being tracked with GPS products. They every repeated the memory check when they got back.

The outcomes showed that people’s functionality on the check enhanced by nearly twenty% after wandering amongst the trees. By comparison these subjected to a active street did not reliably improve on the check.

In the second review participants weren’t even permitted to depart the lab but alternatively some stared at photos of all-natural scenes although other people looked at urban environments. The enhancements weren’t really as amazing as the very first review, but, once once again, the trees and fields beat the roads and lampposts.

These benefits replicated a preceding research by Berto (2005) who located that just viewing photographs of all-natural scenes had a restorative impact on cognitive function. People’s overall performance was quickly restored by image of trees, fields and hills, but not by streets, industrial units or even complicated geometric patterns.

Focus Restoration Theory

What is it, then, about getting immersed in genuine natural scenes that makes it possible for the mind to unwind? Kaplan (1995) supplies a good explanation based mostly on the thought that consideration is split into two varieties:

  • Involuntary focus is grabbed by whatever is most fast to our survival. We have much less handle in excess of this and consequently locate it really tough to ignore things like buses coming straight at us.

  • Directed interest is what we use to override our instinctual, involuntary attention. It permits us to resolve conflicts so that, for instance, we can perform out we are in much more quick danger from a auto overtaking that bus. Vitally, directed focus is thought crucial to our brief-term memory.

Think about crossing a hectic street: our involuntary consideration is getting pulled 1 way then the other by all kinds of stimuli. There are other men and women on a collision program, crossing signals to decipher, police sirens in the distance – not to mention the vehicles, buses and motorcycles whizzing past on the street. All this buzz signifies we continually have to choose exactly where our focus should be directed. This is tiring.

In comparison all-natural scenes only engage our involuntary consideration modestly: it’s adequate to end us receiving bored, but not so a lot we need to engage our directed attention to function out in which to place our emphasis. Properly gazing at the sunset offers our directed consideration a rest and we can allow our minds wander.

Trees and fields: the ultimate cognitive enhancers?

So just as we may possibly have predicted nature is a sort of all-natural cognitive enhancer, helping our brain let off steam so it can cruise back up to complete functioning. The attractiveness of this research is it neatly tests the thought and puts a concrete quantity on the improvement. Of program it only examined an arboretum, and only one kind of cognitive perform. It may possibly properly be that other all-natural places provide even higher positive aspects. What about the sea-side, sunsets or sand dunes? What about perception, difficulty-solving or executive function?

Whatever the outcomes in distinct natural environments, these benefits for cognition are remarkable for what is essentially a free exercise (providing all-natural places are shut). In reality these final results are even a lot more impressive when you consider the trouble researchers have had exhibiting the positive aspects of ‘brain training’ computer software for cognitive function (see: which cognitive enhancers actually work?).

Like numerous a favourite psychology examine this 1 is also useful. When our minds need to have refreshing and if all-natural scenery is available, we ought to consider the chance. If not then just searching at pictures of nature is a affordable 2nd ideal.

Of program several folks previously decorate their homes with images of landscape, almost certainly with out realising the cognitive benefits. So even if you can not get out of the residence, and all your windows appear out onto urban jungle, when you need a break take a glance at a number of images of nature. Flickr wouldn’t be a bad spot to begin.

Bringing Nature to the Vitamin Shelf: What is a Stilbenoid

Several customers are mindful that berries and grapes are so-named “superfoods” that pack a large dietary punch into a quite small bundle. But few know a.) why berries and grapes are so very good for you b.) what the health benefits of berries are and c.) how a lot they would have to consume in purchase to unlock their full health advantages.

We’ll tackle a. and b. very first given that the news about c. might come as a shock. Berries and grapes are excellent for you in component since they have chemical compounds referred to as stilbenoids that belong to a class of compounds named phytoalexins, which are naturally developed by plants when under attack by pathogens this kind of as bacteria or fungi – in other phrases, they are a part of a plant’s defense method. Stilbenoids are potent anti-oxidants, meaning that they support fight free radicals induced by oxidative tension and assistance wholesome cellular aging. They have also shown promise for the support of heart overall health, cognitive perform, sports nutrition, bodyweight management and the maintenance of blood stress and blood sugar amounts presently within standard ranges. For example, a human clinical trial led by Dr. Daniel M. Riche at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy identified that pterostilbene, the stilbenoid in blueberries, have beneficial effects on systolic and diastolic blood strain in adults. While a lot of animal scientific studies have identified pterostilbene to have helpful wellness effects, this was the 1st examine conducted in humans.

 500 Cartons of Blueberries

Now, here’s the shock. Although a lot of buyers are aware of the health benefits of berries and grapes, what several may not comprehend is that they would have to eat impossibly large quantities of stilbenoid-containing food items in order to unlock their complete health positive aspects. For example, a customer would have to consume a lot more than 500 cartons of blueberries in purchase to get a clinically relevant volume of pterostilbene. The same goes for grapes: a client would have to drink gallons of wine — one hundred glasses a day or much more — in purchase to ingest an efficient quantity of resveratrol, the stilbenoid discovered in grapes, in accordance to Dr. David Sinclair, a professor of genetics at Harvard Healthcare School who has studied resveratrol extensively.

 Supplements Might be the Resolution

The great information is that stilbenoids are widely accessible in supplement kind, thus enabling customers to get a advantageous serving that is the equivalent of hundreds of pounds of berries or gallons of wine in a every day capsule. Which raises the question of which kind of stilbenoid supplement to take — resveratrol or pterostilbene. The reply is pterostilbene, which has superior bioavailability and a longer half-lifestyle, which means that it gets into the entire body far more effortlessly and stays there longer to operate its magic. The bioavailability of pterostilbene is 80 %, compared to only 20 % for resveratrol – in other words, 60 % far more pterostilbene is obtainable to the physique. Pterostilbene also has a half-life that is 7 instances longer than that of resveratrol, which means that it persists longer in the entire body: 105 minutes for pterostilbene versus 14 minutes for resveratrol. In addition, the level of cellular uptake for pterostilbene is two to 4 occasions greater than that for resveratrol and it has higher oral absorption and metabolic stability.

The upshot is this: yes, all-natural compounds referred to as stilbenoids exist that may well support assistance heart well being, cognitive perform and sports activities nutrition, function as an anti-aging antioxidant and aid handle excess weight and sustain wholesome blood sugar ranges and healthier metabolic process currently inside of the normal ranges. And yes, these substances are obtainable in berries, grapes and wine. But if you truly want to consume ample stilbenoids to reap well being rewards, you have to bring nature to the vitamin shelf in the kind of a every day stilbenoid supplement, preferably in a highly bio-obtainable form this kind of as pterostilbene.

Fluoroquinolone Recovery Brought to You by Nature

Levaquin was my Kryptonite. For other individuals it’s Cipro, Avelox, Moxyfloxacin or even the myriad of flowery named eye drops and ear drops cleverly disguised to get rid of the “floxacin” from it’s identify. Phone it what you will, but the consequence is usually the same, total devastation for your gut function, neurological method, musculoskeletal program and organs. Synthetic medication can be tolerated by the human entire body but as comedian Chris Rock very cleverly after stated “Just because you can do it…doesn’t automatically imply it need to be done”. That’s how I come to feel about synthetic medicines. This brings me to my up coming topic. Levaquin/Cipro/Avelox recovery. YES. I did say recovery. Soon after eight and a half years of struggling and adequate learning to receive a number of healthcare doctorates in the regular globe, I have managed to uncover the reply to my health-related mystery that the healthcare planet insisted essential ache drugs and antidepressants. If you are a victim of fluoroquinolone drugs, you probably have also experienced the physician who is no greater than a frequent street drug pusher.  My gut usually informed me to get a pass on this technique due to the fact pills are how I grew to become so injured, so how could far more pills aid?

Hundreds and hundreds of hrs of reading scientific research and listening to thousands of victims and their grocery record of symptoms has had it’s last payoff.  It is the gut. The “second brain” as people in the know are now calling it. Poor gut well being equals poor bodily health, poor neurological health and bad brain perform.  Research display that 50% of consumers studied publish Levaquin and Moxifloxacin experience irreversible damage to gut flora colonization. Study the sciency things Here . This is with just one particular dose.  I do not have to inform you just how poor this is going to get after a number of doses….it’s genuinely the finish of your gut function and BOOM, you are FLOXED (Appreciate A PIECE OF MY HORRIFYING STORY HERE  “Erin’s Story”)

Back to the premise of the blog…..RECOVERY. This is a reasonably unknown term in “Flox World”. Many do not recover. It is a mysterious cocktail of several elements such as genetics, diet program, determination and a small bit of very good luck and fairy dust thrown in. I did Every thing appropriate, gluten totally free, dairy, free soy free, commerical food totally free, antibiotic free of charge, organic, grassfed meat, and was even now unable to totally recover.  I was the MODEL Particular Carbohydrate Diet pupil. I had the most pristine diet plan, led a chemical totally free lifestyle, attempted all the wholesome supplements that significantly created me sicker and then, finally following 3 years of devotion to this every single day, I found my resolution. The SILVER BULLET for my floxing. It all led back to severely disabled gut function. The type that sooner or later prospects to extreme dietary deficiency, autoimmune condition and early death. My serious gut function problems caused me to have autoimmune reactions to every foods I consumed except 5 meals. I was left with a hand total of foods that I was able to eat with out turning into disabled and loosing the use of my arms. I am not alone in this, several victims are in wheel chairs, braces and need to use gadgets of all sorts due to extreme muscle function concerns. Enter RECOVERY. I hit the books (personal computer now, God Bless the world wide web) and desperately searched for a way to reverse serious gut devastation transdermally because any supplement I took created me drastically sicker due to my extreme “leaky gut”.  I was launched to a distinct brand of crucial oils that reversed the significant leaky gut that I had suffered from since my very first Levaquin RX eight and a half years ago.  I was skeptical at very first think me. Extremely SKEPTICAL. I am rather jaded soon after everything I have been by means of and all the struggling I have witnessed as a peer counselor for victims over the past three and a half years. The conclusion was flox victims are filled with systemic candida and not just the normal kind that keeps us healthier and balanced, candida albicans. It is referred to as Candida Related Complicated, a complicated checklist of signs that variety from  parasite infestation, depression of thyroid perform, reduced hydrochloric acid in the stomach, mitral-valve prolapse, and persistent viral infections such as Epstein-Barr. Common signs are fatigue, meals intolerance, digestive disturbances, alcohol intolerance, persistent vaginal discharge, bad memory, depression, chemical sensitivities, premenstrual syndrome, anxiousness, emotional disturbance, headache, abnormal weight gain or loss.  Go through Much more HERE   For severley damaged victims, the over record is like a “wish list” or “if only”. Severely floxed victims are reduce down, devastated, no longer ready to function due to the extreme gut devastation and the damage to mitochondrial DNA by the atomic Bomb of antibiotics.

I have strayed badly so back to the original topic. The truth is, I know as well much about these medication. I knew that if I could heal my gut, I could leave all this behind. Enter essential oils.  Medicinal oils have been used for as lengthy as man has been civilized, they are the first acknowledged medication.  Given the reality that Pharmaceuticals have often poisoned me, I determined to give it a shot. I necessary two issues. one.) Kill the parasites, candida, fungus and poor gut flora that had set up housekeeping in my gut and was poisoning me on a every day basis, and 2.) Cellular restore to assist my cells to recover from the mitochondrial damage completed to my DNA by the Levaquin. Study Much more SCIENCY Things ON DNA Damage Right here   I discovered both of these items considerably to my surprise. First the gut problem since I was gradually starving to death.  A normal oil mix that includes Anise,Caraway,Coriander, Fennel, Ginger, Peppermint and Tarragon.  The components in this oil mix destroy parasites, candida yeast and fungus and undesirable gut flora. It does it and does it Quickly. I saw results in 48 hours. Huge modifications in excrement like volume went down, regular feces for the 1st in virtually a decade. I right away started to digest meals far better, I becan to obtain fat, I had the dark circle below my eyes disappear, I was turning into complete again. I was consuming food and not just passing it out as undigested waste for the first time in almost a decade. This is where it will get much better. MY Soreness STOPPED. Many years of joint soreness, muscle soreness, peripheral neuropathy, my eye sight enhanced, Huge reduction in physique broad inflammation, my skin firmed up, my feet and back no longer harm, my brain grew to become very practical again, I started to dwell once more. Because I required to restore the mitochondrial damage as properly as gut injury, I handled with an oil mix that does just that, help in fix, renewal and inspire healthier apoptosis in cells. The consequence is Vitality, lot and plenty of vitality. I no longer have a continual feeling of persistent fatigue. A blend of Frankincense, Wild Orange, Lemongrass, Thyme, Summertime Savory, Clove and Niaouli help our cells in repairing and recovering from the chemotherapeutic effects of fluoroquinolones.  Fluoroquinolones are chemotherapy and ruin bacterial cells by breaking the strand of the bacterial DNA, unfortunately, the drugs do not discriminate healthful cells from bacterial cells.  Frankinscence was prized and cherished a lot more than gold in ancient times and is very best recognized as 1 of the gifts brought to Jesus at his birth and with very good reason. Frankinscence is currently currently being utilised as a cancer remedy as it exerts strong anticancer properties as nicely as anti-inflamatory properties.

As the reader, the one particular thing you should know is that medicinal oils are quite effective and customers need to turn into extremely experienced about correct use and oil security. Improper use can be unsafe. It is quite critical to have correct advice and training when utilizing oils in buy to achieve optimum final results and do no harm. You can study all about my journey  Right here and my recovery with oils HERE  Correct use insures a good end result and I am content to assist with your oil healing journey.

I also have a Encounter Guide web page that teaches about oils and recovery. Mindfulness: take a stroll to savour nature and quiet the mind

The group walk along the seaside (JAY WILLIAMS)

For the previous year, Radford has run mindfulness and wild camping weekends in remote components of Snowdonia National Park. The Anglesey walks are a new, far more accessible addition, geared in the direction of coastal lovers. They are also a glorious haven for wild flowers, butterflies, lichen, moss and bird existence.

For this expedition, Radford suggests we walk in comprehensive silence. That’s fine by me, but as I hike via the spiky tufts of marram grass, my mind, annoyingly, is whirring like a substantial-speed fan about to fly off its hinges. Nonetheless, I soon hear a sweet trilling and spot a skylark overhead. On the periphery, I glimpse the forest fringe. Underfoot, I pause to inspect wild thyme and what looks like an absurdly big parasol mushroom. Would I have observed all of this had I been deep in conversation? It’s unlikely. Thankfully, ahead of prolonged my thoughts slips into a quieter gear.

Strolling in silence with a group is a special and oddly bonding expertise. Initial, you have the space in which to savour your surroundings. Then, when you regroup, the pleasure of becoming with each other is amplified, the conversation more compelling, the sharing of meals a lot more of an occasion.

Welsh mountain ponies trot previous (JAY WILLIAMS)

Interspersed with the hiking are pauses to collect in a circle and “check-in” as Radford puts it, with different practices. These consist of focusing on the breath, sensory awareness workouts, and a fun, beachcomber model of “show and tell” – to help us draw our interest back to the current lest it has strayed, say to the pub. If this type of activity and sharing helps make you recoil in horror, rest assured, it is entirely optional.

Our group is forthcoming and enthusiastic. “It makes getting outside an remarkable encounter, permitting you the time and room to recognize the minute detail in almost everything: the dew drops on a cobweb, the veins on a leaf, the millions of shades of green in the grasses,” says Helli Gittens, a business growth officer who first came to a mindfulness course six years ago, following remedy for breast cancer.

Closer to the seashore, on the dunes, we file previous a herd of sturdy Welsh mountain ponies. I’m struck by how they embody the calm alertness we’re aspiring to. We edge past them gently, beyond another ridge and there it is: Llanddwyn – locally recognized as Newborough seaside – one of the most scenic areas in the country. To 1 side are the peaks of Snowdonia Nationwide Park and to the other is the lighthouse on Llanddwyn, a tidal island.

There’s a stiff breeze and the waves are thrashing towards the shore. Clouds hover moodily, and the pebbles planted in the sand appear jewel-like.

I savour the pristine silence. If the aim of mindfulness is to heighten awareness of my surroundings, it’s working.

A one particular-day guided Mindful Stroll in Anglesey charges from £30. The up coming stroll is on January 18. See Wilderness Minds or phone 01248 521621 for the full programme
