7 Natural Home Remedies for White Tongue

A healthy tongue is essential for our survival because, through it, we can drink, talk and consume diet. Sometimes, because of improper hygiene, our pink tongue turns into white. This is called oral candida. This is not a disease but because of certain factors such as bad breath, poor oral hygiene, usage of cigarettes or smoking, fever, dry mouth, dehydration or reaction to certain medications, excessive alcohol consumption, etc. You can consult your doctor if your issue is persistent and severe to get appropriate diagnose and treatment. However, before going to your doctor, you can give these natural home remedies for white tongue a try because they will help remove the white coating and keep your mouth healthy and clean. Read on below!

Top 7 Home Remedies For White Tongue

  1. Salt

Among home remedies for a white tongue, this might be the simplest treatment. The salt will work as a natural tongue scraper which helps eliminate dead cells and debris. Moreover, thanks to its anti-septic property, salt can kill bacteria that might result in bad breath.

To use salt for relieving a white-coated tongue, you can sprinkle some salt on the tongue and use a toothbrush to scrub gently for 60 seconds. After that, rinse your tongue off with warm water. Follow this routine twice per day until you get your desired results.

Alternatively, you could also add 1 teaspoon of salt in one glass of warm water. Use the solution to gargle your mouth. Repeat this routine a few times per day for satisfied results.

  1. Vegetable Glycerin

This is another time-tested home remedy for a white tongue. Vegetable glycerin is particularly effective for people having white tongue because of dry mouth. Moreover, it helps remove bad breath. Vegetable glycerin can be found at most health food stores.

What you need to do is putting a small amount of vegetable glycerin on your tongue. Then, brush your tongue lightly by using a soft-bristle toothbrush. After that, rinse your mouth with warm water. It is recommended to do this method twice per day until your tongue turns into its natural color.

  1. Oil Pulling

Oil pulling is an age-old Ayurvedic medicine, which can be used to treat white spots on teeth and white tongue, particularly due to oral thrush. Oil pulling can eradicate the yeast from oral thrush while expelling toxins from your body.
Just simply put 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin coconut oil in your mouth and brush your tongue with it. After swishing it around in the mouth, you spit it out and rinse your mouth with warm water. You can also use sesame oil to do this oil pulling method.

  1. Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide with its strong antibacterial property can kill bacteria on your tongue. In turn, this helps treat white tongue and make your teeth white. For safety, you should use 3% hydrogen peroxide solution.

To use hydrogen peroxide for white tongue relief, you can mix hydrogen peroxide with water as the ratio of 1:2. After that, dip a soft toothbrush into the solution and scrape your tongue gently with it. After spitting it out, you rinse it off with water. This remedy should be done once per day for about one week. Do not swallow hydrogen peroxide for safety reasons.

  1. Turmeric

This is another good solution for those who are looking for effective home remedies for white tongue because of its antibacterial properties that can prevent bacteria growth on the tongue.

To eliminate your white coated tongue, you just need to mix ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder with a small amount of lemon juice to have a fine paste. Then, scrub the paste over your white tongue for several minutes. Use warm water to rinse your mouth thoroughly and repeat the process daily for one week.

  1. Baking Soda

Similar to salt, baking soda has a coarse texture which can exfoliate the residues sticking to your tongue and maintain the normal pH levels in your mouth by naturally neutralizing acids.

Mix a small amount of baking soda with enough lime juice to get a good paste. Use this paste as homemade toothpaste and brush your teeth. Apply this home treatment regularly until you get rid of white tongue.

  1. Aloe Vera

Due to anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and healing effects, aloe vera can treat oral problems, such as white-coated tongue.

What you have to do is to take a fresh aloe vera leaf and extract the gel. Blend it with some water to get a fresh juice. Swish 1 tablespoon of aloe vera juice in your mouth for several minutes before spitting it out. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with warm water. You had better do it daily for several days to get complete relief from the white tongue.

These are 7 natural home remedies for white tongue which are used by many people around the world. These methods use natural ingredients which do not cause any side effect, so why don’t you choose one of these tips and apply for yourself to get rid of white coated tongue?

Fish Oil – Get The Upper Hand On Bipolar Cognitive Disfunction With The Potent Natural Health Benefits of Omega 3’s

“Omega-3 fatty acids are considered essential fatty acids
The benefits of omega 3’s in fish oil cannot be overstated.”

My Story
According to the psychiatric community, I have bipolar 1 with ultra rapid cycling, but I don’t take pharmaceutical medications. What I do instead is, take responsibility for my own life by taking control of my sleep, food, diet and fish oil regimes.

It hard enough for most people to get their life in order according to what is healthful, useful and what serves you well. When you factor in a chemically imbalanced brain, the challenge is a little greater, but it’s certainly doable. I’m proof.

Out Of Control 20’s To Zen Mistress 40’s
I suppose that, yes, it’s partly to do with maturation, however, I feel that the process of my recovery from bipolar can be pinpointed to have started with the introduction of fish oil at the age of 35.

I have many years of working-out-my-stuff under my belt, and I’ve pretty much got my act together these days, especially when compared to my younger years. Out of control, thinking everyone ELSE was the problem, didn’t help in any way, to get better in the head. It was only once I seized onto the ideas of fish oil and omega 3’s and that yes I could help myself, than life started settling down for me.

It was only after I’d tried a few different pharmaceutical drug cocktails before the thought occurred to me, ‘Now hang on, this totally sucks and what if I NEVER find the right combo of drugs to meet someone else’s definition of normal?’

My Way Isn’t For Everyone
Not being on pharma meds is definitely NOT for everyone. Being an advocate for natural living, I don’t know that I’d ever recommend going the pharma route for anyone? I’m sorry if this offends, but, I see putting pills down my throat as non effective, lazy and a cop out. I also think that it’s quite enabling of non self responsibility.

It’s just about the easiest thing in the world to make a doctors appointment once a week, throwing pills down your throat all the while. To me, that looks a lot like sloughing off one’s responsibility to be the best version of yourself that you can be. Pills don’t change anything about the root cause of the problem, can make you very sick, and, psychiatry is based on you coming up with your own answers. The harder route, but infinitely more powerful and life affirming route, is that of self awareness and natural living. It actually works and without poisoning your body!

My Laypersons Logic
This is a disorder of chemical imbalance, so, let’s get a little logical about that idea and think about it for a minute. To effect a change in chemical balance, you add or subtract something from the equation, right? Therefore, your body being the chemical soup that it is, will also be affected by a change in it’s chemistry. All you need to do is hunt down the source of the missing vitamins, minerals, enzymes and molecules and put them back in. In a certified organic way, of course.

What’s harder to deal with is the root cause/s of why you’re so sick. I’m referring to your emotional health. Emotions have long been known to affect the body. I’ve known inherently for a long time that ‘bad thinking’ will give you cancer. It’s nice to know that the science bears me out on this.

How I Do My Best To Maintain Balance
So, no pharma for me, but I have to work hard at maintaining my whole life. This is something I think we should ALL do, not just those of us that have a problem to correct. Because I choose the non pills way, that means I MUST look after my body and life especially well. To be able to not only exist, but to thrive with bp and no meds, I MUST get 4 things right MOST of the time; sleep, exercise, diet and fish oil.

Sleep – I am naturally a night owl, but to get proper sleep I force myself to go to bed at 10.30/11pm every night except about once a week. I do love to stay up!

Exercise – I get in the form of yoga of about 30 min every second day. Or yogahh as I like to call it. It’s just that delicious!

Diet – is slowly getting better, forcing myself to eat at least one piece of fruit per day, and I love eating my own organic veges so that makes it easier to get the nutrients I need.

Fish oil – This is WONDER stuff! When I’m talking about fish oil, I’m referring to the EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) levels in organic fish oil. The oil you choose should have very specific levels of EPA and DHA.

The Main Benefits Of Fish Oil
Fish oil will help you with;
– Supporting healthy cognitive function
– Relieving arthritis symptoms
– Keeping triglyceride levels within the normal range
– Supporting the body to maintain a normal LDL:HDA cholesterol ratio.

Dosage
The recommended adult dose is for 5mL daily, which is about a teaspoon’s worth.
You should be aiming for at least an equivalent of 500mg EPA and 800mg of DHA daily.

BIG HINT: Have a hot drink to wash it down with. NEVER use a cold drink!

If you really don’t want fish oil then you can get your EPA and DHA from flaxseed, chia seeds, tofu, walnuts, linseed and pumpkin seeds. However, before the body can uptake the EPA and DHA, it gets converted from alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) Bear in mind that getting your omega-3’s this way requires a bigger intake to achieve the same therapeutic benefits as from fish oil.

I first started taking 5ml of liquid fish oil daily approx 5 years ago. Yes, I do mean the “liquid” form. It’s pretty wrong-feeling in the mouth, but…
Within the first 5 minutes (I kid you NOT!) I was saying “Is this how balanced most people feel, most of the time?” This effect continues in the same way, even all these years later. Fish oil has removed the ‘sobbing-all-day-for-no-reason’ days and you can feel the clarity of the cognitive effect nearly immediately. It feels like you’re smarter. There’s no other way to explain the cognitive effect.

It Feels Like You’re Smarter
That’s because you are smarter on fish oil! The positive cognitive effects from taking fish oil are very, very well documented. The Google scholar results when I typed in ‘research review paper cognitive effect fish oil omega 3’ are in the reference section below. There are  20,500 results!

Please, bp’ers that aren’t on meds, get yourself on fish oil TODAY! It’s cheap and life changing-ly worth it!

Do It, Do It Now!

The only other thing I have to say is DO IT, DO IT, DO IT because it’s a BIPOLAR LIFE CHANGER!

Remember to always choose a certified organic product to get the purest product as you can.
p.s. I was first recommended fish oil by a pdoc, who also put me on a script for pharma meds at the same time. So, I THINK you can still use the fish oil while on meds. I would check with your pdoc first to be sure.

7 Natural Remedies to Help With Depression

Living with depression can take a toll on your energy level from day to day and leave you feeling in a slump. You may no longer have the energy to do the things you used to enjoy and this can quickly turn into a vicious cycle of feeling tired and then forgetting to do simple tasks each day to ensure you feel at your best. While living with depression can make it tempting to stay in bed all day sleeping the day away, avoiding movement and activity will make you even more exhausted. Here are a few simple natural remedies that can help you with kicking depression.

St John’s Wort

A natural supplement, St. John’s Wort has been known to help fight feelings of depression. This natural supplement can be taken every day and has been taken for centuries to help people struggling with depression. It is plant-derived and grows in the wild, so it doesn’t get much more natural than that.

Vitamin D

Many people are lacking vitamin D and don’t realize it. The sun helps your body to produce vitamin D, so getting outside and getting fresh air every day while soaking in vitamin D can help boost your mood. At least fifteen minutes of direct sunlight is needed to help your body produce optimum vitamin D levels. A vitamin D supplement can also be helpful. You may need to have your vitamin D levels tested by a healthcare professional. UpWell is a great place to start.

Healthy Fats

Many people don’t have enough fat in their diet. Lacking healthy fats in your diet can affect your overall sense of well being. Coconut oil and fatty fish are two great sources of healthy fats.

Avoid Caffeine

Kicking caffeine to the curb may seem impossible, especially if you rely on coffee every morning to perk you up. It’s important to understand that caffeine is highly addictive and while it makes you alert and picks you up, once the effects of caffeine wear off, you may come crashing down and feel depressed.

Take up Meditation

In the fast paced world we live in, it’s difficult to get your head clear. It can leave you feeling overwhelmed, tired, and depressed. Meditation will help clear your mind and has been proven to help peoples’ overall sense of wellness improve. Some may find it helpful to meditate with a group while other may prefer going it alone. Find what works for you and make it a part of your life.

Stock Up on B Vitamins

B vitamins are crucial for a good mood and an overall feeling of health and wellness. B vitamins greatly impact the chemicals in the brain, including seratonin, which is necessary for that “feel good” sensation. Seratonin is a chemical products in the brain and people who struggle with depression often don’t produce enough seratonin in their brain. Some foods high in B vitamins include fish, cheese, spinach, bell peppers, and turkey.

Exercise

Exercise helps your brain produce seratonin. Exercise helps the brain release endorphins, which are crucial when it comes to feeling good. While getting out of the house and taking the first step to go for a walk may feel difficult at first, once you start moving, the endorphins will be released and you will feel better. A short walk around the neighborhood can do wonders for improving your mood. It only takes the first step and then you’re on your way.

There are many online communities as well where depression can be openly discussed. A personal favorite is UpWell, an online community can help you by allowing you to talk to others in a similar situation but also makes prescription management much simpler. Talking to others about remedies that they are using can be incredibly beneficial to your mental state, and you can learn some great stuff in the process.

5 Fabulous Natural Health Tools

When I first looked at living naturally, I was severely overwhelmed at the huge amount of natural health choices on offer. Where to start? Food? Clothing? Plastics? My environment? So began my quest to read everything I could get my hands on.

Eventually I overcame the overwhelm, when I realized that all I needed to do was choose one thing to change. That’s it. Once I had that one thing sorted, I moved onto the next thing that was important to me, and mastered that next one thing.

If you change your life in this manner, little by little, it won’t be a shock to the system at any point. Each little step brings you that little bit closer to your goal of a natural, chemical free life.

The 5 Fabulous Tools

– Water purifier

– Organic garden

– Essential oils

– Bicarbonate soda

– Apple cider vinegar

Let’s Look At These Individually

Water purifiers – are the best way to get into living naturally. What comes out of the tap, called water, is nothing more than a toxic sludge in my opinion. Do NOT drink what comes out of the tap, ever! If your budget doesn’t allow for a new purifier, try sourcing a second hand one from you local online classifieds or from your local flea market (that’s where my first one came from and I found it in perfect condition!)

Either way, new or used, getting your first water purifier should be top of your natural health shopping list. With our bodies being 80% water, the water we put in, is of paramount importance

Organic garden – One of your most pressing needs, as an up and coming, naturally living being, is to get an organic garden going. If you are new to growing food, just start small, and with a couple of foods that you already like to eat. You can buy seedlings, but I find it much easier to source organic in seeds. Not many places actually sell organic seedlings. Organic seeds are far easier to find.

If you aren’t able to have a garden at this time, get onto the task of finding certified organic food products. This way, you are avoiding ingesting G.M.O’s and it’s the only way to eat, if you are to lead a natural lifestyle. In addition, the array of antibiotics and hormones that are permitted in food and other products is shocking and mind numbing.

Essential oils – organic only, are one of the very best ways to naturally combat many illnesses. To keep you and your family in the best of health, you need to keep at least the three top oils; oregano oil, black seed oil and magnesium oil. This trio make up my recommended base collection of essential oils due to their powerful anti bacterial, anti fungal, anti parasitic properties.

Be careful with these oils as they are highly potent. For instance, when you first start using oregano oil, the recommended dose for maintaining health is 1 drop x 3 times per day. Yes, ONE drop at a time!

Black seed oil has been hailed as the remedy for all illness except death. That sounds a little far fetched, but it’s absolutely fantastic for all manner of uses. I use it externally for cuts, stings and to clear up any skin issues.

In addition, taking black seed oil internally is also good for many ailments.

Bicarb & Apple Cider Vinegar

These two natural products are so useful, in so many ways. I use them in combination, instead of shampoo and conditioner. First I apply the bicarb in a paste and rinse, then I leave in the A.C.V. for a few minutes for the softening effect. A tablespoon a day of either or both is also a great internal cleanse.

I hope you’ve found some helpful hints and tips here, to head in the right direction of natural living. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing you are providing a clean, natural and safe environment for your family.

How Do We Stop The Poisoning Of Humanity? – Natural Easy Solutions To Combat Poisoned Food, Air, Water & Minds

I’m not kidding; this is an all-out assault on humanity.

It’s enough that you start protecting you and your families. Never mind who’s trying to kill you, just get out of their way as much as possible. There WILL be a time and a place for dealing with that, but for now, let’s just survive this full frontal assault, shall we?

Today is my birthday, and when I walked out into the sunshine this morning, I was greeted by a sky thick with chemicals. No longer are chemtrails a conspiracy theory. Like a lot of other things, it’s slipped into the arena of conspiracy fact, with the evidence being everywhere. Happy birthday to me.

Are They Too Stupid To Know They Are Also Killing Themselves?

Some people ask the question, “Well if they are trying to kill us, are they too stupid to know that they also will be killed via toxic poisoning?” The purpose of this article is not only to wake you the heck up but also, to put into your hands the very same survival techniques that those in the know use.

Some of the remedies include; water and air purifiers, organic red wine, oregano oil, diatomic earth, heavy metal detox methods and other toxic mitigation methods. For, we cannot completely eradicate the toxins of our planet, so all we’ve got is mitigation. It just might be enough!

Poisoned Food

Our grandparent’s bodies didn’t have to survive the chemical soup that is our modern world, but we do. I think it best to first understand exactly what G.M.O. means.

In days of old, farmers would save seed to replant next year. Usually. Howeverthe practice was to save seeds from the biggest, most robust and healthy plants. This is natural selection at work; nature provides the genetic mutations and man selects the best to regrow. A natural process.

Hybridization is man purposefully pollinating the biggest, most robust and healthy plants together. Plants don’t generally pollinate plants of other species, so this hybridization usually only occurs within the same subset of species. This is another natural process. Admittedly man is helping by ‘kissing’ flowers together, however, this is merely a mimic of the bees, ants and other pollinators, as seen in nature.

How Does G.M.O. Fit It?

For starters, G.M.O. Food plants are started in a laboratory. In this ‘creation’ of new plant strains, there are patents that are worth a LOT of money to big-ag. G.M. foods are produced so that farmers can spray the shit out of their crops with Roundup (active constituent glyphosate) to kill weeds. The GM crops are genetically engineered to withstand the chemical assault of the glyphosate. And they call it food.

As far as I’m concerned, food has always been FREE! Grow your food and keep the seeds. Get a compost heap going and maybe even get a couple of chickens, just like grandma used to do. She knows what’s what!

The most worrying thing for me is the unknown and seemingly purposefully hidden, long-term outcomes of long-term studies into the effects on humans. I also wonder why lobbyists fight for labelling of G.M. foods. If you are proud of your product, you shout it from the rooftops, don’t you?

Poisoned Air

Have you looked UP lately? Seen any ‘new’ types of clouds? You’re not alone. And, what IS that rainbow oil slick looking clouds on most days? The only thing that’s really safe to say is, the air quality isn’t what it used to be. Get your air clean, especially inside your house and car. In the house, you can grow indoor plants and use air purifiers. In the car, you obviously can’t keep the plants, but you can get little car air purifiers that do the job well. If you sit in traffic, I’d say the car air purifier might just save your life.

Wi-Fi electromagnetic signals are invisible but can be detrimental to the human body. An invisible toxin that is often overlooked. Turn off your Wi-Fi signal before you go to bed, that way, at least you have a chance of having an electromagnetically uninterrupted sleep. Also, try to sit as far away from the Wi-Fi transmitter as possible. Radio waves follow the inverse square parameters, whereby, each time you double the distance from the device, you halve the energy that reaches you.

Dr. Edward Group DC, NP, DACBN, DCBCN, DABFM says that Wi-Fi affects cell growth, derails brain function and that it neutralizes sperm, promotes cardiac stress and may even contribute to cancer.

Poisoned Water

My water journey has been a long one. I’m still not quite happy with the situation just yet, but I’m working on it. I am now at the point, 2 years down the track, where I am drinking the cleanest water I can lay my hands on. The one thing I need to work on is rain capture; I don’t have any! Well, I do, but it currently consists of 10-litre water containers and catching the rain as it comes. When I run out of that, I buy water and run it through my Southern Cross water purifier. I have three now. Two in use and one for spare. Yes, the top ups are constant, but it gives great peace of mind and satisfaction to know that the water my children and I drink, is the cleanest I can provide.

Fluoride is one of the main toxins you are looking to avoid by drinking filtered water. The dangers of fluoride aren’t really debated, other than regarding just how dangerous it is for the human body. Take one look at Dr. Mercola’s site and you will find about 90 articles just about fluoride. Yes, it’s that important to remove from your diet!

Poisoned Mind

T.V. – Not only do you NEED to NOT tune into the so-called ‘news’ you also need to be mindful of the T.V. shows/series. Depicted in the T.V. series is the way they want you to live, eat, play and be with your families. Did you know that there are approximately 1200 mainstream ‘news’ outlets in the world and that when you trace back ownership of these media outlets, is goes back to about 6 owners?

Cleansing our minds of the constant blast from the media is a great way to start clearing your mind of all the rubbish it’s been fed all your life. SWITCH OFF THE SIGNAL! Read a book, hug a loved one, go for a walk, walk your dog, dance, call your friend for a chat. The list of things to do, other than sit in front of a T.V. having your mind programmed, is endless.

Conclusion

There are many ways of clearing your life of all the poisons you’re assaulted with on a daily basis. Everything is a process, and you’ve got to start somewhere. Take your first steps in doing something about improving your air, water, food and mind. Or continue on your journey if you’ve already begun. The possibilities are seemingly endless, but just focus on one of them and you’re off to a fantastic start!

Good luck!

Clean Air

1 – Air purifiers – Get multiple air purifiers if you can. When buying an air purifier, make sure to check it’s coverage against the space you want it to purify. Be sure to buy one that covers a larger area that the one you want purified, to achieve a good level of clean air saturation.

2 – Avoid the cities – This one is obvious; more cars = more pollution = cough cough. Not a good thing for our bodies. If you can’t avoid the city, keep reading because you are the one that needs the air purification methods the most.

3 – Buy gas masks – It might sound a bit wild, but have you seen the recent pictures coming out of places like China and Malaysia? They are two places where I would seriously consider wearing a gas mask outside. Those little white masks you see those people using, do little to protect the respiritory system of the body. Gas masks have charcoal filters that last for four hours. Plenty of time to get clear of any serious air pollution when required.

4 – Keep your smoke detectors clean and working – Most people that die in house fires do so from smoke inhalation, not burns.

5 – Shut your doors and windows in times of heavy pollution – Then crank up the air purifiers. This one might sound like common sense, but I do recall a serious blonde moment years ago, where I left the windows open during a dust storm. Yes, the house was full of the dust.

6 – Get a car air purifier – Protect yourself in your car. If you regularly sit in traffic for hours on end, I implore you to go buy a car purifier, right now. They are around 50 bucks and worth every penny in gridlock.

7 – Grow Plants – We breathe out the carbon dioxide that they breathe in. They breathe out our much needed, clean oxygen. Bring some plants inside to pump pure oxygen into your house.

8 – Use a sealed shade house if you can – This will protect your crops from pollutants in the air.

Clean Food

9 – Move towards eating only organic – look at labeling for goodness sake! And keep doing so. Early in my journey there was a memorable trip to the supermarket where I discovered that every single packet of those frozen french fries my daughter was still eating at the time, contained canola. It’s times like that that make me advocate for you to start reading labels. I’m positive what you find will shock you.

10 – Start replacing plastic with glass and polyester in your bed linen – Still be wary of claims of BPA free plastic because BPA (Bisphenol-A ) is just one molecule away from Bisphenol-S and that’s what they’re using now instead of the BPA. STILL an endocrine disrupter! When we use plastic for food storage containers, plastic is inevitably leeching into our foods and bodies. Plastic is everywhere. Use glass jars instead.

Look for ethical manufactures of natural, organic products like organic cotton sheets, especially baby’s sheets. Did you know you can even buy baby nappies in organic bamboo? Super soft!

11 – Read all labels – When you do buy processed products to put into or onto your body, please do read the label. I remember checking EVERY frozen chip packet at the supermarket one day, and EVERY one contained canola. Canola the G.M.O. product, no thanks!

12 – Examine what’s in your beverages – check labels there too.

13 – Avoid eating G.M.O. products – I call them ‘food products’ for they are a product of food, not actually food in my opinion.

14 – Grow your own organic food – Food is free! There’s nothing, zip, zero, zilch better than eating your own food. There are about 58,000 reasons why you should grow your own food.

15 – Grow your own organic real medicine – You will figure out which plants love you as you go along. Start with one or two herbs or natural healing plants, and work your way up to a full healing farm-acy as I like to call it.

16 – Swap with neighbors, friends and family – What better way to foster community spirit and friendships than by feeding each other?

17 – Start a community garden – Again with the community spirit building!

18 – Check out what’s in school lunches – There are often many undesirable choices lurking in the school canteens. Many choices that little Jenny or Johnny are making while you aren’t watching. All you can do with this one is educated your children and be their example.

19 – Keep the holy trinity of essential oils – Oregano, black seed and cannabis oils are your go-to oils that have been used for millennia to treat human ailments. Check with your local laws concerning cannabis because, after many decades of prohibition it’s illegal in a lot of places. Thank goodness we are now, slowly but surely, all around the world, being allowed access to this life saving plant.

Clean Water

20 – Stop drinking tap water NOW – Do you know the source of that water? Have you tracked down the company responsible for the safety of that water and viewed what additives are included? There WILL be some chemicals added, not least of which is chlorine. The worst can be lithium. No kidding!

21 – Only drink filtered rain water – If you have access to a spring or mountain water, definitely use that instead!

22 – Buy a ceramic water purifier – This was my first stop on my journey of natural living, and it should be your very next one. Our bodies are made of 80% water, so the water we put in, really does matter. Get it as clean as you can for drinking.

23 – Use clean water for cooking – Yes, your veges soak up a lot of water that you are putting inside you. Only take cooking water from your ceramic purifier.

24 – Use clean water for making ice cubes – This is something often overlooked when making the switch to clean water. Make sure you ice cubes are made of clean water too.

25 – Use clean water for your pets drinking water – Fido and Kitty want to live too!

26 – Get a pH test kit – This is to check what’s in your rain, mountain, spring and bath water.

27 – Iodine drops for cleaning water.

Clean Mind

28 – Switch off the signal! – include mainstream radio

29 – Stop reading newspapers – more mass media hype and propaganda.

30 – Start researching – You have a computer and the internet right there are your fingertips. It’s not just for loving funny cats pics!

31 – Start questioning everything – My favorite question is, “Why?” If you ask just that question, a couple of times on the one subject, you can often figure out exactly what is going on.

32 – Seek out some philosophy – Find words about life, love and health minds that resonate with you. Seek out the, “Ah ha!” moments. It’s amazing to me that, finding someone who makes emotional and spiritual sense to you, can turn one’s life around so quickly.

33 – Reject constantly negative people – If this sounds harsh to you, you are probably a person who needs to heed this advice more than most. Being exposed, constantly, to negativity is a sure fire way to bring you down. When you are negative, you are vibrating at a lower level and it’s hard to achieve anything in that state. Get with the positive, happy, smiley people.

34 – Practice yoga or tai chi – Both of these practices are excellent for achieving the much longed for by many, mindlessness, state of bliss. With so much going on in life, and at such breakneck speeds, it’s a mountain off our backs when we can find those precious few minutes each day to yoga or tai chi to get mindless. This is a beautific and blissful state to be in. All anxiety drops away because all thoughts are gone.

35 – Learn the art of turning negatives into positives – An art worth your learning.

36 – Walk in nature – Do this as often as you possibly can. The uplifting feeling of being among trees, fresh air and the

37 – Keep away from WiFi when you can – WiFi signals are a very new but are becoming known as toxic to human brains “Since use of mobile phones is associated with an increased risk for brain tumor after 10 years, a new biologically based guideline is warranted.

38 – Daydream – There is much science behind why daydreaming is a good flush of toxic thoughts for our brains.

39 – Pet an animal – You both get floods of oxytocin to the brain during the pleasurable act of petting an animal. Thanks puppy!

40 – Read books – Read as many books, across as many genres, as you can get your hands on.

41 – Do a little prepping for peace of mind – It’s always handy to have some extra water, food and medical supplies on hand

So, as you can see, there is no rational reason why you should run around screaming, “The sky is falling!” because there are a plethora of ways to combat this toxic world. Little bit by little bit we will take back our world and turn it into something wholesome, natural and beautiful once again.

Good luck on your natural health journey!

Natural Health Freedom: 41 Proven Ways To Speed Up Your Transition To An Organically Healthy You

Natural Ways to Combat Addictive Habits That Run in the Family

Addiction is a major problem in America. From serious problems with drugs and alcohol, to even sugar or internet addiction, millions of families struggle to overcome the diseases of addiction and addictive behaviors. As you probably know, trouble with addiction can often run in families, due to both genetic and environmental factors.

Unfortunately, children are the ones who usually suffer most from the addiction patterns in their parents. In fact, roughly 12 percent of American children live with a parent who is addicted to a harmful substance. These addictions can contribute to youth drop-out rates and putting future success at risk. If addictive habits run in your family, no matter what those addictions may be, you are probably concerned with breaking that cycle. Fortunately, there are natural ways to combat addictive habits that could otherwise span generations.

  1. Be honest about the problem
If yourself or someone close to you is exhibiting signs of addictive behaviors, don’t try to sweep your concerns or feelings under the rug. It’s not easy to face these things head-on, but it’s the best way to heal the problem before it grabs hold — increasing the risk for future generations.

  2. Take time to relax
Addictions usually begin as a way to escape or relax. But people who learn to do these things in a more healthful way might be able to curb addictive behaviors. What helps you or your loved one relax or escape reality for a little while? Perhaps it’s the basketball court, the gym, or a great book. Many find that formal relaxation tools such as deep breathing, meditation, or yoga are very helpful.

  3. Try biofeedback
Brain wave biofeedback (also called neurofeedback) is a natural and non-invasive therapy that teaches patients how to modify their own brain wave patterns. It has been shown to help with stress, anxiety, ADHD, and yes, addiction. If someone in your family shows potential for addictive behaviors that concern you, it could be worth a try.

  4. Talk about it
If you or your family has already experienced the struggles of addiction, it’s important to share your story. Share your personal and family experience to offer comfort and hope to others. Putting your energy into helping other families who face similar challenges can give you a new lease on life — and a positive reason to keep moving in the right direction.

  5. Exercise
There is recent scientific evidence that exercise can have an amazing impact on overcoming addiction, and play a role in decreasing your risk for substance abuse. Physical activity can help manage substance cravings and withdrawal by increasing blood flow to the brain, as well as sending endorphins and other feel-good chemicals throughout the body.

  6. Diet
People with addictive habits or out-right addictions generally don’t eat very well and eat or drink too much junk. This can stimulate the body’s cravings for addictive substances and make addiction recovery more difficult. A healthy diet can help give your body the tools it needs to combat addiction.

If you are concerned about the potential for a family cycle of addiction, the best thing you can do is reach out for help. The sooner you recognize the potential for a problem, the more productive and effective your intervention will be. Don’t be afraid to reach out — future generations will thank you.

Effective Natural Remedies for High Blood Pressure That You Should Know

Hypertension or high blood pressure is a condition that results to your heart having to work extra hard to pump blood through your body. It is regarded by medical experts as a “silent killer” due to its characteristic of being symptomless. Here is the rundown of the causes, signs, and natural remedies for high blood pressure.

 What causes hypertension?

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicated that elevation of blood pressure can be triggered by certain risk factors highly associated with lifestyle, nutrition, and other conditions, mainly:

  • Adrenal and thyroid disorder

  • Chronic kidney disease

  • Emotional stress or tension

  • Excessive sodium and fat in diet

  • Excessive alcohol intake

  • Familial history or genetics

  • Overweight and obesity

  • Age of 35 and above

  • Pregnancy

  • Sedentary lifestyle

  • Sleep apnea

  • Smoking

What are the signs and symptoms of hypertension?

Although it normally doesn’t show any signs and symptoms, here is the list of something to look out for:

  • Blood in urine

  • Chronic chest pain

  • Difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue and confusion

  • Irregular heartbeat

  • Severe headache

  • Vision problems

Natural remedies for high blood pressure

1. Herbs

Expensive treatment and medication can cost you a small fortune in the long run. There are many traditional and healthy options available to maintain blood pressure at normal levels – lifestyle changes, dietary discipline, and herbal supplements. If you will take herbal medication, take note if you have any known allergies. Consult your healthcare specialist if you have an existing current medication to avoid undesirable effects to your body.

  1. Basil. Basil is used to complement a variety of dishes. Its extract helps to lower blood pressure.

  2. Cinnamon. Adding cinnamon in your everyday diet such as your favorite breakfast meals (coffee and cereal) can be a good way of enhancing the flavor while lowering your blood pressure and blood sugar level at the same time. This is highly beneficial to diabetics.

  3. Flaxseed. Flaxseeds are rich in omega-3, which is known to be good for the heart as it reduces body cholesterol. Lowering your cholesterol effectively decreases blood pressure, preventing the risks for severe cardiovascular diseases.

  4. Garlic. Garlic is proven to be an effective kitchen remedy to combat a variety of diseases and conditions, including hypertension. Garlic causes your blood vessels to dilate, which eases blood flow.

  5. Ginger. Ginger is widely used in Asian cuisine. It prevents the elevation of blood pressure by improving blood circulation. (Ginger: An Amazing Spice That Promotes Healthy Life)

  6. Hawthorn. It is used in traditional Chinese medicine. It is rich in flavonoids that help prevent certain heart diseases.

2. Healthy Diet and Nutrition

  • Reduce the amount of sodium intake. Too much salt can cause fluid retention, resulting to the rise of blood pressure. The high volume of fluid forces the heart to exert more effort in pumping blood. Try to limit the amount of your salt intake by:-Checking the nutritional facts of the food you buy, especially the processed goods.
-Avoiding pre-cooked meals as much as you can.
-Reducing the amount of salt you add to your dishes.

  • Consume foods rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acids DHA. Fatty fishes like tuna and salmon are known sources.

  • Herbal Tea. Green tea and hibiscus tea contain high concentrations of enzymes that are good for lowering blood pressure.

  • Chocolate or cocoa. Research says that dark chocolate and any cocoa products are rich in flavanoids that keep blood pressure at normal level.

  • Fruits and vegetables. Control your protein, carbohydrates, and fat intake by resorting to a more-vegetarian diet (mostly dark green leafy veggies). Fruits rich in vitamin C are proven to be effective in stabilizing the blood pressure.

  • Coconut water. It replenishes potassium in the body and its magnesium content is good for regulating blood flow. (6 Reasons to Include Coconut Water in your Diet)

  • Boost your potassium. Potassium counterbalances the effects of sodium in the blood. Potatoes, tomatoes, and bananas are rich sources of potassium.

3. Lifestyle Change

  • Exercise frequently. This is essential. Engage in at least 30 minutes of exercise like brisk morning walks, jogging, or active sports to promote good circulation. This is also effective in reducing weight.

  • Lessen alcohol consumption. Excessive alcohol is known to drastically affect your organs, like your liver. Alcohol also suppresses the effectiveness of medications in your body.

  • Smoking cessation.

  • Choose decaffeinated coffee. Studies show that caffeine can raise blood pressure as it causes constriction of the blood vessels.

  • Avoid self-diagnosis. Should you experience any of the signs and symptoms mentioned above, have yourself checked by a healthcare professional. It’s highly advisable to regularly check your blood pressure level to prevent this silent killer from striking. Maintain good health by adapting a healthier lifestyle. Prevention is always better than cure.

Natural Therapies

Since the beginning of time, natural therapies have been used to treat disease and every known culture has attempted to use the healing power in plants. Both the Old and New Testaments speak of herbs and their uses.

Hydrotherapy, or the use of water in healing disease, is also very ancient. In fact, early written records describe various uses for water therapy well before either the Roman or Christian eras.

While these natural therapies, on a few occasions, were written down, for the most part they were transmitted by word of mouth, as was the case with the American Indians who were unfortunately seen as the “bad guys” by the self-proclaimed “good guys”.

Back in the days of Hippocrates, who was considered the father of naturopathic medicine, disease was treated with diet, fasting, herbs, hydrotherapy, exercise, and spinal manipulation (chiropractic’s), prescribed from a basis of principals of healing that are now used as the foundation of naturopathy.

The most basic tenet of naturopathy is that ‘only nature heals’ and it emphasizes the body’s ability to heal itself if given the chance.

But slowly and steadily orthodox medicine, with Big Pharma as the leader, gained political power and united against the naturopathic profession.

Not only were naturopaths declared illegal and prosecuted in many states, but so were midwives and many other health professionals who were seen as either financial or philosophical threat.

In the 60s there was a rebirth of awareness and interest in all things “natural”. The 70s and 80s brought about a reemergence for naturopathic practitioners and a new generation emerged that no longer accepted the status quo blindly.

All aspects of modern society were scrutinized, including that of modern medicine. Thalidomide, DES (the synthetic female hormone) -induced cancer, and other drug related tragedies have led the general public more and more to ask, not how effective a drug is, but how safe it is.

Today, the naturopath’s offer alternatives. Their training encompasses both traditional and modern techniques of diagnosis and therapy. They are trained in 4-year state accredited private naturopathic medical schools.

Their program includes all the basic science, diagnostic, and medical courses standard to any other medical training institution. In addition, the naturopath is trained in a wide variety of natural therapies to be used to help the body repair itself.

The aim of naturopathy is to treat people, not disease; to remove the cause of disease, not merely its symptoms; and to cure disease, not just postpone it.

The natural therapeutic approach maintains that the constant effort of the body’s life force is always in the direction of self-cleansing, self-repairing and positive health.

The philosophy maintains that even acute disease is a manifestation of the body’s efforts in the direction of self cure. Disease, or downgraded health, may be eliminated only by removing from the system the real cause and by raising the body’s general vitality so that its natural and inherent ability to sustain health is allowed to prevail. It also maintains that chronic diseases are frequently the result of mistaken efforts to cure or attempted suppression of the physiological efforts of the body to cleanse itself.

10 Natural Stress Relief Tips & How to Create a Serene Space

After the holidays, we all need time for stress relief. Starting the New Year off with a routine of taking time for yourself to unwind is the best gift you can give yourself.

Creating a serene space at home is the best part. If you want to try yoga or meditation, make it a project to clear out a space in a room for just that activity. De-clutter the area; keep it simple, perhaps a candle, an iPod player for meditation music, and a small table for incense or jewelry. Keep the floor clean so that it is inviting to sit there or do yoga. Leave the cell phone out of the room while you are meditating, so that there are no distracting sounds. Even choosing an outside area is a great idea, as you get the fresh air, the sounds of the birds, and the peace of being in nature.

5 Yoga Poses to try

Yoga reduces cortisol and adrenaline, both hormones that make us feel stressed and overwhelmed. But the key to a reduction in those hormones is a steady practice that happens regularly. Try these poses for a deep stretch and a chance to take some deep breaths and relax.

  • Standing Forward Bend (holding both your elbows to further pull your upper body downwards) – This is a perfect pose for back pain & for all of those hours spent sitting

  • Triangle Pose – stretches so many muscles and brings the heart open

  • Downward-Facing Dog – releases the back, stretches the upper back, and stretches the hamstrings. Be sure to raise your butt up as high as you can to release the weight from your wrists.

  • Supine Twist – A gentle twist that helps back pain and releases tension

  • Low Lunge – a great pose for releasing tension in the hips and stretching hip flexors.

Be sure to not over-stretch as you can cause ligaments to tear resulting in months of recovery. Go slowly and feel the edge of your abilities. Then back away from that edge. Stretching should feel good, not painful.

If yoga is not for you, try a different exercise routine. Even joining a team boot camp can be fun, but make sure it is made for your level of fitness. Dance workouts also are a lot of fun and make the time pass quickly. Exercise is very beneficial for the brain, and has been shown to be just as effective as anti-depressants. Even walking for 30 minutes several times per week gives the same brain benefit as high intensity exercise.

Drink at least 8 glasses of filtered water every day

When you are dehydrated or not getting enough water, your cortisol levels rise in your brain, which causes stress. Fill up bottles ahead of time and put them in the fridge for cold, refreshing water. Try adding bruised lemon slices, cucumber slices, even fruit like raspberries. Make sure to drink water from a good water filter that takes pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and fluoride out of the water.

Take Lemon Balm for stress relief

Extract: 10-15 Drops in water.

Tea: keep the lid on the teapot as the terpenes in Lemon Balm are in the steam.

Lemon Balm is great for relieving restlessness, anxiety, and insomnia. Studies have shown that combining Lemon Balm with Valerian was very effective for anxiety and insomnia.  If you are taking medications or are pregnant, consult your doctor before taking Lemon Balm or Valerian.

Read a favorite novel or book

Reading calms the brain and helps us to focus on one thing instead of being distracted. Reading a novel allows us to escape into a fantastical world or just another person’s life. I make it a point to only read books with characters who are good people, who strive to do the right thing, versus books where the majority of characters are evil, intent on causing havoc, etc. I feel stress melt away when I’m reading about good people. I’m inspired by them and hopeful for them!

A study at the University of Sussex found that reading reduced stress by 68%, better than listening to calming music or drinking a hot cup of tea.

Meditate

Many studies have been done on meditation for stress-relief. The best kind of meditation is one where you are not forcing your mind to be present. But rather, you are noticing how your mind wanders, and you are listening to your breath. Notice the mind wander and then accept it, let it go. Imagine the negative thoughts as a balloon, choose a color for it, picture it in your head, and let it float up into nothingness. Even 5-10 minutes of meditation every day can make a huge difference in your stress levels. Try doing a short meditation at the end of your yoga session and it might be easier to fit in. Or do it right before falling asleep at night. Make it easy and fun, not a bunch of work.

Create something

Learn to cook, draw, paint, create a scrapbook, or make a simple piece of furniture. These types of hobbies make you feel like you are creating something tangible and real. Hobbies provide you with “eustress”, a good kind of stress that makes you feel challenged and excited. However, too much eustress (from too many appointments and activities) can turn into chronic stress that makes us go into “fight or flight” mode and burnout. If most of your hobbies involve lots of other people, try doing a hobby that is solo. It will give you the time to reflect. Plus, if you’re doing it at home you can set up your environment for peace and serenity.

Laugh more

Be with people who you love & who make you joyful! That face-to-face time is priceless and it is gone in an instant. Enjoy it now.

Garden or Be Outside Every Day

Time in nature is so important for stress relief. Sitting in the sun with your eyes closed and meditating is a powerful stress reliever. Experiencing the beauty of the outdoors gives us peace. Replace your nightly TV-watching with a walk with your spouse or a friend. A study has shown that watching TV is the same as being low-level stressed whereas heart rates were calm while watching nature out of a window. To be happy and peaceful in life, we need to interact with nature, even if it means smelling a flower or watching ducks at a pond. Make it a priority to take walks during lunch or a nightly walk after work.

Journal 3 Things You Are Grateful for Today

Make it a habit to write down 3 things you are grateful for every day. Your sense of accomplishment and self-worth will increase by doing this. You will feel less of a need to be constantly busy. It will also help you to pinpoint the important things in your life that you might not be focusing on. Or perhaps it will help you see that certain people in your life need to know how grateful you are for their presence and love.

Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender Essential Oil is very relaxing and calming for our nervous system. Diffuse it into the air or dab a drop on your feet before bed. Try mixing a spray of 50% witch hazel + 50% water + 5 drops of lavender essential oil, shake it, and spray it on your pillow before bed.

Stress relief using natural methods is a great way to gently guide your body into a new year full of happiness and productivity. I am happiest creating things, being in nature, and spending time with loved ones. But sometimes we also forget to make time for ourselves. Take time every day to do something just for yourself, that makes YOU happy. That happiness will radiate throughout your life and touch others.

Try These 3 Amazing Natural Killers for Chronic Pain

Once in a while during your life, even though you never ask for it, you have to experience pain. Pain caused by bruises, for instance, typically subside in e few hours or days as the color of the affected area fades, on the other hand, some ailments cause you to experience pain for a longer period, which lingers for several months or years.

What is pain? Pain is defined as an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience. Two types of pain are an acute and chronic pain. The former results from disease, inflammation, or injury to tissues and comes on suddenly whereas the latter persists over a longer period of time than acute pain, e.g. three to six month, and is resistant to most medical treatments.

There are many types of pain. Common pain syndromes include back pain, arthritis, cancer pain, headaches, migraine, head and facial pain, muscle pain, neuropathic pain, sciatica, and shingles. Pain is also as a result of painful disorders of the skin, sports injuries, surgical pain, spinal stenosis, trauma, and vascular disease/injury.

Two categories

Generally, there two categories of chronic pain: nervous system and structures (neuropathic) and deep tissue and organ (nociceptive). Common symptoms of chronic pain include tingling, aching, throbbing, and burning in any part of the body.

Treatment of different types of chronic pain may vary, however, natural foods and supplements are typically effective for treating chronic pain originated from many different ailments.

Natural treatments include activated charcoal, apple cider vinegar and blackstrap molasses are particularly effective for relieving pain. Additional treatment options include undergoing acupuncture, avoiding artificial sweeteners and soaking in Epsom salt baths.

Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal or activated carbon is commonly used to treat food poisoning. It is also can be used to flushed out toxins and chemicals, that’s why it is used in emergency trauma centers across the world for the safe and effective treatment of poisoning and drug overdoses.

Please note that activated charcoal is not charcoal used in your barbecue grill. Activated charcoal is created through a heating process, during which water vapor is added that results in the formation of an abundance microscopic pores.  An increased surface area formed by the microscopic pores can effectively trap toxins in the form of many types of chemical compounds.

Surprisingly, taken orally, activated charcoal can be used to treat pain caused by arthritis (gout and rheumatoid). It can also be used in the form of a poultice made by combining flaxseed and activated charcoal powder. It is said to be able to alleviate pain associated with cancer, sore throat, earache, irritated eyes, sprains, toothache, inflammations, and bruises. Pain will subside between ½ – 1 hour is not unusual.

Note: Sluggish detoxification, drug/chemical abuse, chemical exposure in a workplace, and long-term uses of drugs especially polypharmacy (concomitant drugs: five or more drugs used at the same time) is associated with toxic neuropathy, which can induce pain in susceptible individuals.

Apple cider vinegar

Besides acetic acid and vinegar, apple cider vinegar contains many types of beneficial chemical compounds including similar molecules found in fresh apple, some or most of which are probably in modified forms (unfortunately, no studies to substantiate). It may contain quercetin, chrologenic acid, phloridzin, and catechin, all of which are typical bioflavonoids found in apples.

These phytochemical constituents along with acetic acid as well as other biologically active chemicals such as many types of organic acids, several types of vitamin B, vitamin C, carotenoids, and mineral like magnesium is believed to work synergistically in helping flush out many types of toxins and chemicals.

In short, many people have reported anecdotal evidence of using apple cider vinegar to successfully alleviate chronic pain including digestive problems, headaches, gout, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Note: Taking 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil can alleviate pain much faster.

Molasses

Natural Ways to Keep Your Teeth Healthy

When it comes to health, there are many different routes people take to accomplish it, with many people finding the use of natural methods and products to be effective. The same rings true for oral hygiene, and there are many ways people use natural methods in their oral care routines. For some, they find them to be the most effective, some people choose to do so for social or eco reasons, but whatever the case, it’s easy to keep your teeth healthy by taking the natural route.

Drink Water: Essentially as pure and natural as can be, staying hydrated and drinking water keeps your whole body healthy, not just your mouth. Even better, many public water sources have fluoride in their water which helps to keep your teeth strong. Staying hydrated prevents dry mouth, and helps your saliva to wash away any mouth debris from leftover food. It’s also sugar-free, so the bacteria in your mouth have nothing to feast on. Drink up!

Drink Green Tea: While you’re hydrating, add green tea to the rotation. Green tea can control bacteria while lowering the acidity of saliva. These benefits can help to decrease tooth decay. Gum disease is also no match for green tea, due to the anti-inflammatory qualities of green tea. These all lead to improved breath, so when it comes to oral health, green tea is filled with goodness for your mouth.

Choose your Diet Wisely: Acidic foods can be detrimental to your oral hygiene, as it can negatively affect your risk for tooth decay. This is caused because the acid eats through the enamel and allows bacteria to get into the surface of the tooth. Choosing foods that are mineral rich are a great choice for overall health, and foods high in phosphorus and calcium are vital to keeping tooth enamel strong.

No Smoking: Tobacco can be natural, but that doesn’t make it healthy for you. Not using tobacco products is natural, too, and is much better for your oral hygiene. Aside from yellowing your teeth, tobacco products can lead to bad breath, inhibit the production of saliva, and lead to oral cancer. It also takes a toll on your whole body and circulation, so leaving it out of your lifestyle has more benefits than not.

Don’t Crunch on Non-Foods: It’s easy to crush ice with your teeth or chew on nails, or the end of your pen and many people do it absentmindedly. Doing so can cause damage to your enamel, so use your teeth for food only, and you’ll keep them stronger longer.
