Boys as well as girls should be told about the evils of FGM

Lynne Featherstone, the Liberal Democrat parliamentarian who was once a home office minister, and Justine Greening, the education secretary, have written to Theresa May asking that she will allow girls’ schools to teach pupils what a bad idea female genital mutilation (FGM) is, so that the poor things will know how they can avoid being so tortured.

I can’t remember when I first heard of FGM – presumably when being told all about strange foreign places and habits, while absorbing the oddities of geography at school or later. The tiresome fact is that while the clitoris exists to make reproduction agreeable so that the species will continue, FGM makes reproduction the exact opposite when its painful removal is deemed necessary by any tribe or group.

I know that it is often older women who do the actual chopping

So there is no harm in warning young girls, but you would think the males ought to be the ones to be lectured on the subject. (I know that in the hot places where the habit comes from, it is often other women, older women, who do the actual chopping – perhaps partly to be sure that lush young girls are not keen to attract all the older chaps.)

I do think that it should be the boys’ schools that make sure the pupils are aware of the awfulness of FGM, so that girls and women will not be in for a bad time at the mercy of boys and men who don’t see the usefulness of the clitoris at all.

There’s no harm in sensible information being available for all, but surely it’s the males that need educating.

What do you think? Have your say below

Beastie Boys’ Ad-Rock designs trainer to fundraise for Planned Parenthood

While many artists venture out into the world of retail for their own brand benefits, Beastie Boys’ Ad-Rock has designed a trainer for the good of the world.

Along with ethical LA shoe company Keep, the rapper has created a vegan trainer to raise money for Planned Parenthood, the US non-profit organisation that provides reproductive healthcare, sex education and information to millions of people worldwide.

“I support a woman’s right to choose, and feel that women should not be punished for making decisions about their own lives and bodies,” said Ad-Rock in a statement. “If you have similar beliefs, you might wanna grab a pair.”

Ad-Rock, whose real name is Adam Horovitz, is one of many artists, including Run the Jewels’ El-P, who have aired their support for Planned Parenthood in the wake of Donald Trump’s election to the US presidency. In a letter posted in September this year, Trump stated: “I am committed to defunding Planned Parenthood as long as they continue to perform abortions and reallocating their funding to community health centers that provide comprehensive healthcare for women.”

Earlier this month, Ad-Rock also gave a speech at a “stand up against hate” rally when a New York City park named in honour of the late Beastie Boys member Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch was defaced with antisemitic graffiti.

"As boys we are told to be brave": men on masculinity and mental health

Efforts have been made to challenge traditional stereotypes, but there is still pressure on men to be strong, independent, stoical, competitive and tough. According to research published by the American Psychological Association, these “masculine traits” have been linked with mental health issues such as depression and substance abuse.

Joel Wong, who led the research team at Indiana University Bloomington, said: “In general, individuals who conformed strongly to masculine norms tended to have poorer mental health and less favourable attitudes toward seeking psychological help, although the results differed depending on specific types of masculine norms.”

The research collated results of more than 70 US-based studies involving more than 19,000 men over 11 years. It focused on the relationship between mental health and conformity to 11 masculine norms. They included a desire to win, need for emotional control, and risk-taking.

The traits most closely linked to mental health problems were playboy behaviour or sexual promiscuity, Wong said.

We asked a group to talk about their own experiences of mental health and what they thought of this new analysis.

Daniel Briggs, 44, from Stockton-on-Tees: ‘The pressure to be manly stopped me getting help earlier’

Daniel Briggs

Depression feels like there’s a fog surrounding me. It is closing in and I cannot see what’s in front of me. It’s all-consuming and nothing else matters. I can see the fog building but I am powerless to stop it.

I experienced depression for about a decade before accepting what was going on. As a man it’s definitely much harder to talk about your emotions. It was my wife who made me go to the doctor. I had been behaving erratically: talking about killing myself, disappearing off for hours and leaving her worried sick. I was eventually diagnosed with clinical depression.

I used to work in a shipyard. Among those I worked with there was an old-fashioned view of being a man

Daniel

The pressure to uphold the traditional idea of masculinity stopped me getting help earlier. I come from the north and used to work in a shipyard. Among those I worked with there was an old-fashioned view of being a man – we don’t talk about our feelings. If you get upset about anything other than football you are considered a “sissy”. When people say, “How are you doing?”, if you say “A bit crap” the classic response was: “Could be worse.”

It was the same with older members of my family, who’d say, “Just get on with it”. Don’t complain or talk about what’s going on with you. It took me a long time to open up. Even going to a counsellor was difficult; talking about feelings was something women did.

But talking was exactly what I needed to do, and I am now training to be a counsellor. I lost a lot of friends, especially male ones, opening up about my depression. There’s a huge stigma around it. Doing counselling and getting involved with local charities, people have said talking to me made them feel better. I’ve had men thank me because it made them realise they are not alone. Men need to accept that talking is good and that the hardest part is showing emotion. Walking around with a smile on your face, telling jokes – that’s the easy part. But talking about life and your feelings, rather than how your football team did or how many pints you drank on Saturday night, is much harder.

Chama Kay, 25, from London: ‘My African parents wanted me to understand: you keep this to yourself’

Chama Kay

I have suffered from poor mental health since I was about 16; I remember this vividly because I began to self-harm. It was also around this time that people started saying to me, “You need to talk to someone”. It took three years, two failed relationships and one botched suicide attempt for me to finally take this advice.

Looking back now, aged 25, I can see why, like many men, I found accessing mental healthcare so difficult. Masculine ideals of self-reliance, stoicism, sexual promiscuity and dominance over women do not lend themselves to emotional vulnerability. But it’s important to realise that this is not a mindset that suddenly appears. Rather, it’s instilled into men from a young age. I have personally lost count of the times I have heard parents of young boys admonish their own or other people’s sons for being “too sensitive” or “soft”. So acknowledging and addressing how we raise boys is vital here.

We must not dismiss the role culture plays in how men view and approach mental health. When I was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder there was one clear message my African parents wanted me to understand: you keep this to yourself. For years I was discouraged from getting help and actually felt guilty when I did. For many black communities taboos around mental health undoubtedly exist. But more than this, there is the awareness within these communities that structural racism means black boys, as well as black girls, are already at a societal disadvantage. Higher unemployment rates, longer prison sentences, lack of representation in media, politics and business and numerous other statistics will attest to this. The fear that poor mental health will simply be another stigma for black men to have to fight, coupled with many preexisting taboos, makes for a very tough battle for many.

With all this in mind, I often ask myself what can be done to help. I do not believe any man wants to feel emotionally closed off, lonely and isolated and I know they don’t want to be taking their own lives at the rate they are. By looking at the most sacred commandment of alpha masculinity, I believe it is possible to start to allow many men to address what they truly value, ask whether they are living according to their own standards and hopefully in this way begin to form a healthier relationship with their mental health.

Robert Smith, 50, from Brighton: ‘It’s not about gender or masculine traits – it’s about how much empathy you have’

Over the years I’ve had bouts of depression and anxiety. I’ve experienced severe sleep problems and suicidal thoughts. With years of psychotherapy I now know that all these are symptoms of complex post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This is like PTSD but instead of being caused by a single traumatic event with flashbacks, it is caused by chronic or long-term exposure to emotional trauma.

My mental health has been helped almost exclusively by strong friendships and professional relationships with women and their empathy towards me. Had I been sexist, I can’t see how these important relationships would have developed. So I imagine there is a correlation with sexism and poor mental health, but I doubt that “masculinity” is the cause of poor mental health, rather that classical masculinity, which involves objectifying others, is non-empathetic and perhaps indicates other issues. I would imagine there is a similar correlation with racists and poor mental health. So I would consider the key factor to be one that is not exclusive to men, but affects all people who severely lack empathy and isolate themselves as a result.

In the past I’ve maybe found it harder as a man to talk to people about mental health, but not nowadays. I used to find it harder, because to talk, you need a support network but with severe mental health problems you can scare people off and have no support. Now I have this and I have different people to talk to. But to have empathetic friends, it really helps to be empathetic too, so you can share problems.

Tom Ogier, 31, from London: ‘I’ve only quite recently felt comfortable talking about vulnerability’

Tom Ogier

It can be very hard to admit vulnerability. Perhaps being a fairly big guy it’s easy to appear manly, to play that role, but the traits of “manliness” leave so little space for other important elements of our humanity. Traits that society might portray as more “feminine,” such as compassion, understanding and care, are essential, and sources of great strength.

Men feel they aren’t allowed to open up, even to themselves, for fear of being seen as weak or unattractive.
From boyhood we are told to be brave and ambitious, overcoming obstacles on sports fields, battlefields, boardrooms. But we don’t see many of the mental challenges we face in this way. They are seen as weaknesses that shouldn’t be there, rather than parts of everyone’s lives.

We will all face grief, loss, and relationship issues, and these challenges take their toll, so we’d do well to seek to equip ourselves with understanding.

Being a man: it’s hard to know where to start

Thomas

There’s a Leonard Cohen line I often think of, when he went on stage and couldn’t perform for some reason. He said he didn’t feel strong enough because “somehow the male and female parts of me refuse to encounter one another tonight”. I like the idea of acknowledging that both need to combine in an individual for a person to function. The same is true of society. By balancing notions of strength which tend to be thought of in a binary way, as either feminine or masculine, people might be much healthier. A world without sexism would be better for everyone. Not only would women be respected, but men might be better able to appreciate more feminine traits and strengths, in others and in themselves.

NHS cuts in Devon: "If these services end my boys will for certain die"

The proximity of North Devon district hospital to Anne-marie Wiles’ home – it is less than five minutes away – is crucial.

Her twin sons, Jed and Peirce, were given just six months to live after being born with multiple complex health needs. They are now doing well, aged 16, thanks in large part to the efforts of a loving family, but also the dedicated staff at the hospital in Barnstaple.

“I intentionally live opposite the hospital because when the boys stop breathing there is not enough time to call an ambulance,” said Wiles. Jed has been resuscitated three times at the NDDH and both have been nursed countless times at the Caroline Thorpe children’s ward.

“If these services end then my boys will for certain die once they become ill,” said Wiles. “I am fearful of losing my children.”

She is one of thousands who have joined marches, written to local MPs, organised benefit gigs, signed petitions over the Wider Devon STP – sustainability and transformation plan – which is proposing radical changes to healthcare in the county.

If the plan comes to fruition in its present form, 600 community and acute beds across this sprawling, largely rural county will be gone within five years.

Cherished community hospitals at Honiton in the east – nicknamed the Honiton Hilton because it so beloved – Okehampton in central Devon and Paignton and Dartmouth in the south would go. There have been howls of protest everywhere – but nowhere more than in and around Barnstaple.

Here there is deep alarm that the plan may lead to the shutting down of maternity, neonatology and paediatric services as well as triggering the loss of other departments, including A&E. The Royal Devon and Exeter hospital is 50 miles away – an hour and 10 minutes by car down a winding road if conditions are good, much more if not.

Tina Day’s son, Jaiden-Lee, was born at the NDDH with a collapsed lung and spent a week in the special care baby unit for a week before developing type 1 diabetes. “It terrifies me if services like maternity and A&E are re-located. People will die, guaranteed,” said Day.

John Tate claimed his wife and daughter would both have died had the NDDH not been near. “My daughter had her umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. She had breathing problems and was trapped head down. This caused my wife life-threatening problems. An emergency cesarean saved their lives. Both would have died if Barnstaple was not there.”

Crystal Steinberg said the closure of the maternity department would make her think twice about having a second child. She underwent an emergency caesarean section because her unborn baby, Dylan, was in distress. “I do not want to be stranded at the side of the road while my uterus ruptures and my baby and I die.”

It is not just mums who are worried. Tracy, 46, suffers from a mental health condition that leaves her suicidal. “I have been to A&E three times this month after being picked up by police.” Should the A&E close she believes she would be held in a cell or have to head to Exeter. “I’d have no way of getting there but to walk or hitch. Both are a scary.”

Jacob Egan, seven, was so concerned when he got wind of the proposals that he dictated a letter to Theresa May. He has brittle asthma, which can result in severe attacks, and has been admitted to the NDDH around 10 times.

“Dear prime minister,” he said. “Just think about it, every time any child in our area of north Devon needed to go to hospital they would have to go to Exeter. Exeter is a long distance away and if your heartbeat stopped you couldn’t just wait for a train or car to get you there.”

At the heart of the plan is a “new model of integrated care” that will “reduce reliance on bed-based care and enable people to live healthy independent lives for longer, closer to where they live”. In other words the idea is to look after people at home rather than in hospital.

According to the latest draft of the report, which is up for consultation, every day more than 600 people in Devon are medically fit to leave hospital beds but do not.

The plans argues change must take place. Health and social care services in Devon are likely to be £557m in deficit in 2020/21 if nothing is done, the plan says. It also says the system as it stands isn’t working. The 95% standard for patients being seen in A&E within four hours is not being met – the Devon system is currently achieving 91.6%.

Devon’s demographics also have to be taken into account. There are more elderly people here than in other parts of the UK – in one area of Torquay almost one in 10 are aged over 85. Some need a lot of care – in north, east and west Devon, 40% of people use almost 80% of health and social care.

Angela Pedder, lead chief executive for the plan, said she understood people’s concerns. “But if we sit back and say let’s just let things happen, that’s a much bigger risk not just for the whole of Devon.

“We have to be pro-active. We have responsibilities to make sure the service is safe and sustainable two, five, 10 years down the line. That’s what we’ve got to plan for. That’s the framework we are trying to put in place.”

Politicians, activists and patients are not impressed.

The East Devon Tory MP Hugo Swire said: “We are in danger of putting the cart before the horse. Until we can absolutely ensure that we have got social care right, we should not look at unnecessarily closing community beds.”

Jan Goffey, the mayor of Okehampton, called the proposals cruel and claimed the NHS was being “dismembered”. If the people who actually live in Barnstaple are worried, those that live even further north – and so even further from Exeter – are even more concerned.

Sarah Vander, who runs a shop in the cliff-top village of Lynton, 20 miles north-east of Barnstaple, said her mother had been saved from a stroke and her husband from a diabetic hypo – a drop in blood glucose level – because they got to the NDDH quickly. “We are incredibly remote and we must be able to rely on the excellent services of NDDH otherwise the simple fact is, people will die unnecessarily.”

The seaside town of Ilfracombe, 12 miles north of Barnstaple, suffers a double whammy. The town is isolated and some areas are deprived: life expectancy in central Ilfracombe is 75 compared with 90 in parts of east Devon.

Rebecca McGarry, from Ilfracombe, the mother of daughters aged two and three, said she felt sick thinking about the prospect of losing services. Both her children have received excellent treatment in Barnstaple including for severe croup, which makes it difficult for them to breathe.

McGarry’s husband is a carer and needs the car for work so she often has to take her children to the hospital on the bus. “I honestly don’t know how we would manage if these appointments were moved even further away. The idea that such a remote region should lose these vital services is totally absurd. People will lose their lives if these closures do happen.”

Obesity set to soar for boys, but not girls, from poorer homes

Childhood obesity is set to increase so sharply among boys from poorer homes in England that three in five of them will be dangerously overweight by 2020, research shows.

But the number of well-off boys who are overweight or obese is expected to fall to one in six in that time, underlining that obesity’s already stark class divide will widen even further.

Doctors and health campaigners urged ministers to take tough action to reduce the number of children and young people who are becoming very heavy, including restricting advertisements on television for junk food before the 9pm watershed and taxing unhealthy foodstuffs.

At the moment, 16% of boys in England aged between five and 11 from the most deprived backgrounds are overweight and another 34% are obese, with only 51% a normal weight. But on current trends those figures will rise to 17% (overweight) and 43% (obese) by 2020, leaving only a minority – two out of five (40%) – who have a healthy body mass index.

In contrast, the proportion of boys that age from the wealthiest backgrounds who are overweight is likely to fall from 12% in 2016 to 10% in 2020 and those who are obese by a third from 9% to 6%, with the percentage who are a normal weight rising from 79% to 83%

“These shocking figures are yet another wake-up call to the devastating impact that obesity is having on our children, with certain sections of society being harder hit than others, just as we have seen with smoking,” said Sarah Toule, head of health information at the World Cancer Research Fund.

“Widening of inequalities appals me – it’s a waste of human resources. When a child is born into poverty they miss out. They miss out on school trips, nutritional meals and warm, dry clothes and homes. They are also more likely to suffer poorer health as a result and become overweight or obese or develop mental health issues,” said Prof Russell Viner, officer for health promotion at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

“The figures further highlight the impact – specifically on boys – poverty has on a child’s health and wellbeing. Inequality tells us we can do something about it. We need a country for everyone, not just an environment for the rich.”

But levels of obesity are set to remain about the same among girls irrespective of their background – at about one in five of those aged five to 11, according to the research by the UK Health Forum for the Obesity Health Alliance, a coalition of medical groups and health charities.

Projections based on trends seen in the Health Survey for England undertaken between 2008 and 2012 show that obesity and overweight in girls from the least deprived families are set to fall slightly from 23% now to 22% in 2020, while among poorer girls from 24% to 21%

Robin Ireland, chief executive of the Health Equalities Group, said while it was hard to explain the gender gap, “there could be a number of reasons – including girls usually being more conscious about their physical appearance, and boys being more brand loyal and therefore susceptible to the billions of pounds spent on marketing to children through brand characters and sports stars.

“From a young age, children are developing a taste for high sugar, salt and fatty foods that is difficult to break once established and, as a nation, we all have a responsibility to help shape children’s diets.”

Public Health England, which advises the government, said it was “deeply worrying” that children faced such wildly different chances of becoming obese simply because they lived in deprived areas. Its drive to reduce sugar and calories in foodstuffs by 20% by 2020 as part of the government’s childhood obesity strategy would help, said Dr Alison Tedstone, its chief nutritionist.

Boys and girls need to go out to play | Letters

“If we want a society that promotes happiness and wellbeing among children” (We should be ashamed of what we’re doing to Britain’s children, Owen Jones, 4 October), we could start by giving them back the space where they are happiest, and the freedom to enjoy it.

In 2008, after the UK came last in a Unicef league table of developed nations’ children’s wellbeing, a consensus was quickly reached that children desperately needed more time, space and opportunity to play, not on screens and social media, but with their friends, outside, as they have done for millennia. A 10-year strategy was launched to “make England the best place in the world to grow up”, with every neighbourhood made safer from traffic and containing attractive places to play within easy reach of children’s homes.

In spite of growing evidence that free play, in the real world, is a vital component in children’s adaptability and resilience, this plan was abandoned in 2010 and children’s play services have been heavily hit by austerity measures ever since.

As a teacher who has worked in music education for nearly 30 years, I want to echo Victoria Trow’s letter (2 October). There is a great deal of evidence to support play-based learning – this is well known in the education sector as well as among parents. But policymakers are too frightened to jump off the conveyor belt of testing and results that is ruining our children’s sense of self-worth and their chance of a happy and carefree childhood. The job of a child is to play. There are no ifs or buts about this. Let our children sing and dance and play make-believe. Let them get muddy and jump in puddles. This is how we can nurture our next generation for the better.

Boys conceived through IVF technique have lower than average fertility

Boys conceived using an assisted reproductive technique in which sperm is injected directly into the egg have lower fertility than average, scientists have found.

The results come from the first generation of boys conceived using a technique called intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), who are just reaching adulthood, and show that the young men have lower sperm quantity and quality than those conceived spontaneously.

ICSI is normally used to help couples conceive when the man has a low sperm count, or where there are abnormalities in the shape or movement of the sperm. The latest findings suggest that these problems tend to be passed on to the next generation – there is no suggestion that they are caused by the technique itself.

The study found that the men conceived through ICSI, who were aged between 18 to 22, had almost half the sperm concentration and half as many motile sperm (sperm that can swim well) than naturally-conceived men of a similar age.

ICSI men were nearly three times more likely to have sperm concentrations below the World Health Organisation’s threshold for “normal” fertility.

“These findings are not unexpected,” said Andre Van Steirteghem, emeritus professor at Vrije Universiteit Brussels, who led the work. “Before ICSI was carried out, prospective parents were informed that it may well be that their sons may have impaired sperm and semen like their fathers. For all the parents this information was not a reason to abstain from ICSI because, as they said: ‘If this happens ICSI can then also be a solution for our sons.’”

The findings confirm for the first time that the problems that had caused the father’s infertility – usually genetic factors – appear to be inherited by their sons.

Scientists believe these genetic flaws would be passed on regardless of whether their children were conceived naturally or using ICSI.

“These first results from the oldest group of ICSI-conceived adults worldwide indicate that a degree of ‘sub-fertility’ has indeed been passed on to sons of fathers who underwent ICSI because of impaired semen characteristics,” said Van Steirteghem.

ICSI differs from conventional IVF treatments because the sperm is injected directly into the egg, rather than many sperm being mixed together with an egg and waiting for fertilisation to occur.

In 2014, the most recent year for which figures are available, around half of all IVF cycles in the UK involved ICSI, according to a report by the Human Fertility and Embryology Authority.

Nick Macklon, professor of obstetrics and gynaecology within medicine at the University of Southampton, said: “This was always going to be a concern, and couples were counselled that sons might inherit genetic flaws that nature was trying to get rid of by rendering the man infertile. It justifies our cautious approach. It isn’t any cause for alarm.”

Prof Richard Sharpe, an expert in male reproductive health at the University of Edinburgh, said: “In showing, as a group, that the ICSI sons have starkly abnormal semen quality compared with normal, non-ICSI-derived sons, the results suggest strongly that male fertility problems severe enough to require ICSI may be inheritable.

Importantly, the results are a reminder to us that Icsi is not a treatment for male infertility, but simply a way of bypassing a problem and leaving it for the next generation to deal with – something my generation seem horribly adept at doing.”

Prof Simon Fishel, managing director of Care Fertility, said that the findings were useful but not unexpected. “Just having low semen parameters is not evidence for the requirement of ICSI or IVF technologies,” he said. “We know many men with such are indeed able to conceive naturally. More follow up studies will be required to ascertain meaningful outcomes.”

Boys who produce autism "exposed to higher ranges of hormone in the womb"

The lead to of the elevated hormone amounts is unclear, it is considered to be a genetic problem.

The researchers stated due to the fact the hormones have been discovered in the amniotic fluid, which surrounds the child in the womb, the supply is a lot more most likely to be the infant than the mother. They strategy additional exams on the mother’s hormones to create this.

Autism is a broad spectrum of disorders affecting social interaction, and occasionally speech and understanding.

It is believed up to one in one hundred children might be impacted by autism spectrum disorders.

The findings had been published in the journal Molecular Psychiatry.

Lead writer Simon Baron-Cohen, professor of developmental psychopathology at Cambridge, stated: “We previously knew that elevated prenatal testosterone is connected with slower social and language improvement, much better focus to detail and a lot more autistic traits.

“Now, for the initial time, we have also proven that these hormones are elevated in youngsters clinically diagnosed with autism.”

The study drew on 19,500 amniotic-fluid samples stored in a Danish biobank from folks born in between 1993 and 1999.

The researchers identified samples from mothers who gave birth to 128 boys later on diagnosed with an autism-spectrum condition.

Simply because some of the hormones are made in considerably higher quantities in males than in females, the obtaining may possibly help clarify why autism has an effect on far more boys, the researchers said.

Prof Baron-Cohen stated: “These new outcomes are especially striking because they are located across all the subgroups on the autism spectrum, for the very first time uniting people with Asperger Syndrome, traditional autism, or Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not-Otherwise-Specified.

“We now want to check if the very same locating is found in females with autism.”

However there were some boys who did not have autism who had been exposed to higher amounts of hormones in the womb and some boys with autism who have been exposed to reduced levels of hormones, so the outcomes cannot be utilised to create a prenatal check for autism, specialists mentioned.

Dr Rosa Hoekstra, Lecturer in Psychology, The Open University, explained: “This paper is the first to recommend that male foetuses who later on produce autism may have been exposed to somewhat larger ranges of prenatal steroid hormones, as measured in amniotic fluid, compared to male foetuses who create typically following birth.

“Moreover, this study centered on comparisons between boys with autism and boys with no psychiatric diagnoses or studying difficulties. As the authors stage out themselves, it is as nevertheless unknown if similar distinctions apply to ladies with autism, and to kids with other problems, this kind of as ADHD or intellectual disability.”

Prof Richard Sharpe, of the Healthcare Analysis Centre for Reproductive Well being at the University of Edinburgh, mentioned: “Finding the fetal leads to of autism-spectrum ailments is a challenging activity, so this carefully made research wants to be viewed in this context.

“It is an important initial phase.

“At face value this seems to fit with the previously argued hypothesis that ‘overexposure’ to fetal androgens could increase the chance of autistic disorders, and would also fit with the increased prevalence of these disorders in boys, who are naturally exposed to increased amounts of fetal androgens than are girls.

“However, as the authors are mindful to point out, if you examine real hormone levels (I.e. Testosterone) in the amniotic fluid samples in their research, there is no clear distinction among hormone ranges in controls and in people who went on to build an autistic disorder.

“There could be several explanations for this, this kind of as variation in personal sensitivity to hormones or that the time widow investigated is also early to detect a correct elevation of hormone amounts as the amniocentesis procedure from which these samples are collected is usually undertaken in between 15-twenty weeks.”

He advised there may be option explanations including that kids with autism are more sensitive to hormone amounts or their bodies use them in a distinct way to normal.

He explained: “We now know that subtle variations in fetal growth are an essential determinant of later disease, which may be lifelong.

“Studying this in humans is exceptionally tough because of the obvious limitations in accessing what is occurring in the foetus within the womb, so investigations this kind of as the current research have to be viewed as pioneering.”

A paper published in March in the New England Journal of Medication found that individuals diagnosed with autism missed essential genetic markers for brain cells that are supposed to create prior to birth.

A Norwegian study published last year discovered that taking folic acid dietary supplements in early pregnancy was linked to a reduce danger of autistic disorder. Folic acid is required to fuse the spinal cord in early fetal advancement.

Vaccination has been feared as a prospective cause of autism right after a review by Andrew Wakefield, published in the Lancet healthcare journal in 1998, linked the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine to an enhanced threat of building the situation.

The Lancet retracted the examine in 2010, citing “false” claims, and the British Health care Journal referred to as it a fraud in a report the following year.

Boys who produce autism "exposed to higher ranges of hormone in the womb"

Research on youngsters in Denmark has found that boys with autism had been much more probably to have been exposed to larger levels of hormones in their mother’s wombs than individuals who created normally.

Boys diagnosed with autism and related ailments had, on typical, raised amounts of testosterone, cortisol and other hormones in the womb, in accordance to analyses of amniotic fluid that was stored soon after their mothers had medical tests in the course of pregnancy.

The findings add to a increasing body of proof that the biological foundations of autism are laid down properly prior to birth and involve elements that go past the child’s genetic make-up.

The outcomes could assist scientists to unravel some of the underlying triggers of the autism and clarify why boys are 4 to five occasions more most likely to be diagnosed with the situation, which influences about a single % of the population.

Amniotic fluid surrounds the little one in the womb and is made up of hormones and other substances that they pass through their urine. The liquid is collected for testing when some women have an amniocentesis around 4 months into their pregnancy.

Scientists in Cambridge and Copenhagen drew on Danish healthcare records and biobank materials to uncover amniotic fluid samples from 128 boys who have been later on diagnosed with autism. In contrast to a handle group, the boys with autism and related circumstances had higher ranges of four “sex steroid” hormones that form a biological production line in the physique that begins with progesterone and ends with testosterone.

“In the womb, boys create about twice as considerably testosterone as women, but compared with typical boys, the autism group has even larger ranges. It truly is a considerable big difference and may have a huge impact on brain improvement,” said Simon Baron-Cohen, director of the Autism Research Centre at Cambridge University.

Simply because boys are naturally exposed to much more testosterone in the womb, even a modest rise in the hormone may possibly place them in the threat variety for autism. Ranges of the tension hormone, cortisol, had been also larger in the autism group. “From this study we can’t say this is causal, but it is telling us that component of the biology of autism commences prenatally,” Baron-Cohen extra.

Prior function in animals has shown that testosterone plays a key role in shaping the male brain in the womb. The newest review, published in Molecular Psychiatry, will now be followed up, to solution whether or not higher ranges of hormones lead to more autism in ladies, and why ranges may well rise in the womb in the very first area.

The work does not aim to produce a prenatal test for autism, Asperger’s syndrome, or milder, relevant situations. In the examine, some boys exposed to high levels of testosterone in the womb designed properly generally, although others exposed to lower amounts were diagnosed with autism. The results cannot indicate whether or not an personal will go on to produce autism or not.

Even if a test could predict autism, it would raise significant ethical problems. “A prenatal check that is utilised to make a decision to terminate a pregnancy could efficiently be a form of eugenics. A prenatal test that is utilised for early detection, with a see to starting intervention in early postnatal life could be significantly less ethically contentious, and would need to be evaluated for its positive aspects. But we are a prolonged way from that at present,” stated Baron-Cohen.

He went on to warn that the review does not justify the use of drugs that block sex hormones as a treatment method for autism. Drugs that do this have already been supplied, inappropriately, to individuals with autism, but they could have damaging side results and could do nothing at all to alter the brain once it has been shaped in the womb.

Richard Sharpe at the MRC Centre for Reproductive Well being at Edinburgh University described the function as “pioneering”.

“We now know that subtle variations in foetal advancement are an crucial determinant of later condition, which could be lifelong. Studying this in people is exceptionally challenging since of the obvious limitations in accessing what is occurring in the foetus inside the womb,” he said.

The 10-year-outdated girl who was raped but unable to terminate her pregnancy due to Senegal’s ban on abortion has given birth to twin boys.

In an interview with the Senegalese girls lawyers’ association, the woman, who has just turned eleven, was asked whether she was pleased that the rapist – her neighbour – was in police custody. “No,” she answered. “I want him to be killed because he has stopped me from going to college.”

The lady gave birth in the seventh month of her pregnancy, on 21 February. The infants invested a week in an incubator and are understood to be in excellent overall health.

“I did not realise I was pregnant. My mom noticed my entire body shifting and because I was vomiting she took me to the hospital. In the last couple of months my head ached and I could hardly stand up.”

Asked what she remembered about the birth she mentioned: “Nothing. I woke up and I realised I was not pregnant any far more, and I saw the twins.

“The twins are fine, but they want a lot of breastfeeding, and I do not have adequate milk. My mother buys milk at the pharmacy. We are in a position to get it, thanks to donations from generous individuals and a pharmacist who is currently being extremely kind,” she said.

The girl’s mother, who sells veggies at the market place, mentioned she had approached a female local community leader for guidance right after medical professionals confirmed the pregnancy. Her moves to strategy the state prosecutor had been supported by legal volunteers. The rapist was swiftly taken into police custody, the place he awaits trial.

“In direction of the finish of the pregnancy she could not get up on her very own at night and frequently panicked. Her father, from whom I am divorced, blames me. He says I have not brought her up appropriately, which is why it happened. When I advised him on the cellphone that the twins had been born he said, ‘I hear what you say’. Because then he has neither phoned nor come to see us.”

She asked the lawyers’ association to support the girl financially to let her to continue her training. However, she said her daughter would need to have to adjust colleges to steer clear of currently being bullied by other pupils.

Describing the rape, the 11-12 months-previous stated: “My mom had gone to perform. There was no 1 around in my place. I was enjoying with my friends and I abruptly wanted to go to the toilet. He identified me in the toilet and closed the door.”

She said he threatened to destroy her if she informed anyone of her ordeal. “Afterwards, I had pain at the bottom of my abdomen. I could not even stroll effectively but I forced myself to hold myself effectively as I was afraid he would kill me.”

She extra that the guy raped her a 2nd time in the exact same toilet. “This time he stated he would kill not only me but my mom if I told any person.”

The 135 areas in Britain exactly where 1 in seven boys will not reside to retirement

Stress to increase the pension age since of main enhancements in life expectancy are referred to as into question by official figures exhibiting a sizeable minority of babies born these days will even now not dwell to reach retirement.

According to estimates presented by the Office for National Statistics, all around one particular in four newborn boys in Glasgow, Blackpool and Dundee and one particular in five from Belfast, Burnley and Liverpool will not survive to the age of 65.

All round there are much more than 130 nearby authority locations in the United kingdom in which at far more than a single in seven baby boys will not live long enough to draw their pension.

It indicates that in almost a third of all locations there are groups of underprivileged families whose lifestyle expectancy is effectively lagging decades behind the rest of the country.

Charities stated the figures exposed a “shocking” and little-reported divide emerging in Britain above existence expectancy.

A examine published by the ONS final week underlined the pace at which daily life expectancy projections are becoming revised to get account of the results of the ageing population.

Women are now anticipated to reside 82.7 years on common – a complete 12 months longer than they were only 4 many years earlier.

Males are quickly narrowing the gap, with regular existence expectancy now at 78.9 many years – an enhance of 17 months in just 4 many years.

But the figures also present how a significant minority of men and women, concentrated in poorer regions, are in danger of being left behind.

The ONS has supplied nearby lifestyle expectancy estimates for far more than 400 nearby authority locations in the United kingdom displaying broad variations.

Concentrating on male lifestyle expectancy, the estimates present that 93 per cent of child boys born in South Cambridgeshire or Hart in Hampshire need to survive until finally at least the age of 65 but that only 75 per cent in Glasgow and 76 per cent in Blackpool would.

General there are 135 neighborhood authority places in which much less than 85 per cent of boys born today will reach the age of 65.

Chris Goulden, Head of Poverty at the Joseph Rowntree Basis mentioned: “These surprising figures demonstrate the hefty toll that poverty and deprivation extracts from people’s lives across the Uk.

“One in 4 boys born in Glasgow or Blackpool are probably to die just before they can start off collecting their pension – even if they have been able to earn sufficient to save for an sufficient 1.

“The identical is accurate for one particular in five boys born in Belfast or Blaenau Gwent.

“The figure falls to about one in ten for people born in the far more prosperous parts of Southern England such as Wokingham or Cambridge.

“Raising the retirement age for men and ladies is most likely inevitable since of our ageing society and the charges of state provision in later lifestyle.

“But these figures present how essential it is to address the leads to of early death amongst men and women from poverty-stricken parts of the nation.”

Masculine boys and feminine ladies more very likely to get cancer

“Though there is absolutely nothing inherently masculine about chewing tobacco, or inherently feminine about employing a tanning booth, these industries have convinced some teenagers that these behaviours are a way to express their masculinity or femininity.”

The researchers analysed data from 9,435 youngsters who answered queries about gender expression – how a lot women described themselves as “feminine” or boys as “masculine” – and cancer risks.

The benefits showed that boys who described themselves as “very masculine” – in terms of their self-image and perform preferences in childhood – were almost 80 per cent much more probably to use chewing tobacco and 55 per cent a lot more probably to smoke cigars than boys who described themselves as the least masculine.

The most feminine girls have been 32 per cent more very likely to use tanning beds and sixteen per cent more probably to be physically inactive than the least feminine women. The review also discovered that activities this kind of as studying magazines or watching tv and movies played a part in promoting specific cancer hazards.

Physician Bryn Austin explained: “Engaging in danger behaviours in adolescence likely increases the danger of engaging in comparable behaviours in adulthood.

“So it is important to emphasis on prevention in the course of the teen years, challenging notions such as ‘tanning tends to make one beautiful’ or ‘cigar smoking and chewing tobacco is rugged or manly.’”

How the ‘Discoverer’ of ‘AIDS’ in five Gay Party Boys from 1981 Created the Largest Blunder in Background

Many people might not be aware that there is a group of people who question the official HIV/AIDS story that we have been familiar with for the past thirty years.  These people are called “denialists” by the AIDS establishment. Propagandists use this term as a means to discredit and dehumanize anyone who dares to question the orthodox perspective on HIV. Why would anyone have to question? Why would there be any doubt that HIV causes AIDS? Why are people who question the orthodoxy treated like heretics, targeted with character assassination, dehumanized, insulted or even blamed for the death of HIV+ people?

Most people around the globe are aware only of the orthodox theory on HIV and have no clue that there is another story to be heard and that this story depicts what some would call the greatest medical fraud in human history.  I would advise any person who still is capable of critical thinking to compare both sides, dissident and orthodox and later decide what makes more sense. Regardless of the never ending propaganda campaign pushed by the AIDS establishment to keep people on the HIV bandwagon, many people who have heard of the dissident perspective on HIV believe that there definitely is and has been something fishy going on for a long time.

For starters, the HIV tests are non specific as they do not detect the presence of HIV, but they detect proteins or antibodies which could be in the body for countless reasons. At the moment, the list of known cross reactions is 100 or more and include things such as pregnancy, the flu, antibodies created by vaccination, candida albicans antibodies, hepatitis, tuberculosis, rheumatoid arthritis etc. Follow the link below to read an old list containing 70 or so cross reactions. An updated list containing 100+ cross reactions is confidential and being used at the moment in court cases.

http://www.virusmyth.com/aids/hiv/cjtestfp.htm

The criteria for testing also varies from country to country. You may be positive in the US but the same test could be interpreted as negative in another area of the globe due to the way the western blot and elisa tests (confirmatory tests) are interpreted there.

The “infections” in the United States remain mostly confined to the original target groups; homosexuals, blacks, iv drug users etc while in countries such as Africa the majority of infections are from heterosexual transmission. How can a virus target people based on their race, sexual orientation or choice of lifestyle? Yes, the CDC and NIH tend to say that everyone is at risk for AIDS but yet nothing has changed since the start of the “epidemic”. How can it be possible that a person who tested positive in America no longer tests positive when moving to a different country? How can it be possible that there is a great number of infected virgin girls in Africa? What is this, immaculate infection going on?

Another thing to consider is that if a person chooses an alternative for their health instead of taking the highly toxic and black boxed antiretrovirals or HAART treatment, they are shunned and demonized at every turn. Most people are unaware of the HIV world thinking that perhaps it operates in the same fashion as the cancer industry. After all, your oncologist might be against you attempting a natural treatment instead of opting for chemo, radiation and surgery, but a cancer patient will never be called a cancer denialist by those who do not agree with his or her choice. In the AIDS world, this is all too common and people are controlled with fear and propaganda by the AIDS establishment in order to stay compliant and not even think of asking questions about “the other story” on HIV. I’ve seen it and it’s something straight out of the twilight zone.

There is much to discuss in regards to this issue but when it comes to it, I believe the time has come for a reappraisal of the original HIV/AIDS hypothesis done by researchers, scientists, doctors or whoever as long as a clear, non-biased and non-restricted investigation is done. Many medical professionals and scientists around the world are aware of the fallacies behind the original HIV theory but they are stonewalled every time they attempt to speak about or further their research into this. Why should the establishment have to silence and block these people? After all, if 30 years of AIDS research is no doubt correct and the HIV tests are specific and accurate, there should be no problem in proving this once and for all even to those who still remain skeptical.

My friend Cal Crilly wrote the following information. Give it a read and decide for yourself if we were lied to for 30 years or if big pharma, the CDC, FDA, NIH etc were telling the truth all along. Regardless, people should be allowed to choose which treatment plan, if any, they decide to follow. The answer to this issue in my opinion is not chemotherapy for life, the answer lies in natural healing. AIDS world is unique as there is no second opinion allowed, no other treatments other than what big pharma pushes on patients and you better follow what they say or they will call you a “denialist” and do everything in their power to discredit you and make you appear like a monster responsible for the death of other people.

By Cal Crilly

It is not hard to see where AIDS researchers totally stuffed up, it was right at the beginning.
This is Gallo’s 1984 press conference where he declared HIV was the cause, this is so Hollywood.

Margaret Heckler & Robert Gallo – 1984 Press Conference

While this below is Michael Gottlieb’s first ever key study on gays with AIDS in 1981.

Gottlieb “noticed a pattern of unusual illnesses in homosexual men who’d had no contact with each other.”
Not sexually transmitted was it?
Instead Gottlieb claimed this was caused by a sexually transmitted mutant cytomegalovirus which depleted T-cells?

“The diagnosis of Pneumocystis pneumonia was confirmed for all 5 patients ante-mortem by closed or open lung biopsy. The patients did not know each other and had no known common contacts or knowledge of sexual partners who had had similar illnesses. The 5 did not have comparable histories of sexually transmitted disease. Four had serologic evidence of past hepatitis B infection but had no evidence of current hepatitis B surface antigen. Two of the 5 reported having frequent homosexual contacts with various partners. All 5 reported using inhalant drugs, and 1 reported parenteral drug abuse. Three patients had profoundly depressed numbers of thymus-dependent lymphocyte cells and profoundly depressed in vitro proliferative responses to mitogens and antigens. Lymphocyte studies were not performed on the other 2 patients.”
Pneumocystis Pneumonia—Los Angeles 1981

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1470612/

Michael Gottlieb either deliberately or stupidly completely ignored the fact that all the gay men had been nitrate inhalant users…
“All 5 reported using inhalant drugs, and 1 reported parenteral drug abuse.”

“In writing up the case later for the New England Journal of Medicine Gottlieb claimed that “A high level of exposure of male homosexuals to cytomegalovirus-infected secretions may account for the occurrence of this immune deficiency.”‘
Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia and mucosal candidiasis in previously healthy homosexual men: evidence of a new acquired cellular immunodeficiency.

http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJM198112103052401

This is the entire abstract, tell me if you can find any mention of poppers or nitrate inhalants after his first case study write up?

“Four previously healthy homosexual men contracted Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, extensive mucosal candidiasis, and multiple viral infections. In three of the patients these infections followed prolonged fevers of unknown origin. In all four cytomegalovirus was recovered from secretions. Kaposi’s sarcoma developed in one patient eight months after he presented with esophageal candidiasis. All patients were anergic and lymphopenic; they had no lymphocyte proliferative responses to soluble antigens, and their responses to phytohemagglutinin were markedly reduced. Monoclonal-antibody analysis of peripheral-blood T-cell subpopulations revealed virtual elimination of the Leu-3+ helper/inducer subset, an increased percentage of the Leu-2+ suppressor/cytotoxic subset, and an increased percentage of cells bearing the thymocyte-associated antigen T10. The inversion of the T helper to suppressor/cytotoxic ratio suggested that cytomegalovirus infection was an important factor in the pathogenesis of the immunodeficient state. A high level of exposure of male homosexuals to cytomegalovirus-infected secretions may account for the occurrence of this immune deficiency. (N Engl J Med. 1981; 305:1425–31.)
That got to the Journal by December of 1981.

In 1993 though Gottlieb said later said that blaming cytomegalovirus for immune failure was a mistake.

“Lastly, I focused on a possible viral etiology. As a longtime student of human immune disorders, I knew that only a virus could wreak this type of damage on an adult immune system. Because cytomegalovirus (CMV) was cultured from multiple sites, I proposed that it might be causal. This proved to be an error. CMV had been reactivated because of the immune deficiency.
However, I also suggested that a previously unrecognized toxin, microbe, or virus might be the culprit.”
AIDS: The Discovery.

http://garfield.library.upenn.edu/classics1993/A1993LL19000001.pdf

The “unrecognized toxin” was completely forgotten.
If you look at the start of that admission we can see clearly Gottlieb was and still is a guy who thinks he’s brilliant and was always after the fame a virologist gets when they ‘discover’ a ‘new virus’.
I call it negligence.
It’s actually worse than negligence because this led to the widespread use of a banned cancer drug called AZT.
And this action had killed 300,000 men by 1993 when they decided at the Berlin AIDS Conference to lower the dose of AZT to ‘save lives’ and thus HAART was invented, less AZT, patients live longer, the numbers looked good.
Then it was sold to the Africans.
This has also led to appalling experiments on children, kidnappings and jail for women who even breastfed their children under the guise of ‘Child Protection’.

In reality since the Genome Project happened at the turn of this century we found HERV’s or our Human Endogenous Retroviruses were highest in our germ cells when those reproductive cells grow and that there are retroviruses all over the body even in T-cells.
Those HERV retroviruses also appear if any of our cells become cancer or reproductive tumours.
This means in men the germ cells are really only in the testes and the anti-retrovirals will be killing less cells in men than in women, but still men get shocking side effects from being tricked into taking AIDS drugs.
So anti-retrovirals that ‘work’ on a women’s retroviruses in her germ or reproductive cells are preventing growth of the breast tissue, the cervical tissue and the uterus and the placenta.
Women and children on these drugs in any long term are really stopping all their cells.
These are the cells that make you a woman and cells that help form the child’s organ’s and nervous system.

If you see Gottlieb’s account of the ‘discovery’ it’s clear any viral sequence would do for a journal write up,

“In the fall of 19801 collected several cases of what I thought was a new syndrome.
Thinking about publication, early in 1981,1 phoned Arnold Relman, editor of the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). I spoke with assistant editor Joe Elia and presented a sketch of the new syndrome to him. He quickly put Relman on the phone. I told them I had a story that would be as significant as Legionnaire’s disease.
Although I was an unknown assistant professor of medicine from UCLA, Relman was both kind and responsive. He listened to my description of the patients and the T helper cell deficiency we had observed. Since it would take a minimum of three months from the time I submitted an article until it was published, he suggested that I publish a brief article in the Center for Disease Control Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR). NEJM would not view that as “prepublication” and would still consider accepting a more detailed article.
He did not promise to publish my paper, but said he’d like to see it. My June 5, 1981, report in the MMWFT allowed me to alert public health officials and practicing physicians to the new disease and to stake a claim as the “discoverer” of AIDS.”
Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia and mucosal candidiasis in previously healthy homosexual men: evidence of a new acquired cellular immunodeficiency.
New Engl. J. Med. 305:1425-31, 1981. http://garfield.library.upenn.edu/classics1993/A1993LL19000001.pdf

Well that report was so ‘brief’ no mention of popper use appeared in it at all, the media went into ‘viral panic’ mode and Gottlieb got his new ‘Syndrome’ in the journals so he was not merely an ‘unknown assistant professor of medicine from UCLA’

By also saying “However, I also suggested that a previously unrecognized toxin, microbe, or
virus might be the culprit.” Gottlieb in effect was passing over the fact that Nitrates had caused immune failure and passing on the ‘Virus that causes AIDS” theory and backing up Gallo with his criminal HIV test.
Gallo of course was a cancer virologist, today we now know that all cancers release retroviruses as our DNA is composed of 8% retroviruses.
We also know now in the 21st Century that retroviruses are needed for a successful pregnancy as the placenta is the organ with the most retroviruses in the body while the reproductive germ cells in people are also chock full or retroviruses.
Gallo didn’t know that in 1984.
He also didn’t know there are retroviruses in women’s breasts as they are germ cells and in children’s brains as they grow.
Robert Gallo also in 1984 had suggested using the p24 antigen test as a means of measuring “tumour size’ only 2 months before he made the claim that p24 was part of HIV at a press conference.
There was never any peer review of the HIV causes AIDS claim, that peer review was only first published in Nature in 2012 when Peter Duesberg was finally begrudgingly granted a peer review paper in a journal.
There were cries of “How can we allow duesberg rubbish to be printed when HIV has been ‘proven’ from all quarters.

Following Gottieb’s Journal claims in The New England Journal of Medicine there was a study in 1982 from Lancet that showed clearly that gay nitrate users with Kaposi’s and without Kaposi’s had low T-cell counts.
This was 2 years before Gallo claimed a retrovirus he named HTLV-III or HIV was causing the t-cell depletion?
Gallo also had not isolated HIV and was trying to prove HIV existed with antibodies, given the fact we now know that our genome comprises 8% retroviruses why did Gallo blame a retrovirus when it was clear all the patients were snorting drugs which cause thymus atrophy, blood poisoning and even blindness?
When the reality is that AIDS happened when a lot of gays were having fun until they got to the hospital.

“First, consider what may be the largest single money maker in the Gay world — the popper industry. Within the last fifteen years the use of poppers has exploded in the Gay male world, with a spillover lately among some Lesbians. Many Gay businesses, and not just bath houses, now routinely sell poppers, and their use has become as ubiquitous in bars, baths, and bookstores as their odor. A huge number of Gay men never have sex anymore without poppers. Many are unable even to masturbate without them.
The money rolls in. A study in 1978 estimated that the popper industry was grossing $ 50 million a year. Today that figure is probably much higher.”
POPPERS: an ugly side of gay business. Nov. 1981

http://paganpressbooks.com/jpl/EVANSPOP.HTM

“In the gay ghettos of the Seventies and early Eighties, poppers were always at the center of the action. On any given night at, say, the Anvil in Manhattan, a large percentage of the men on the dance floor would have poppers in hand, and many of the rest would be helping to pass the bottles around. Some disco clubs would even add to the general euphoria by occasionally spraying the dance floor with poppers fumes.
Michael Rumaker, in his classic book A day and a Night at the Baths, describes the tubs as “permeated with that particularly inert, greasy odor of poppers. Wherever you went, the musky chemical smell of it was constantly in your nostrils.” He found himself heading to the single, small window, in order to gasp a few breaths of “something other than the cold, kerosene smell of amyl.”
My own most vivid memory of poppers in action goes back to Fire Island, sometime in the Seventies – that legendary time. Yes, children, I was there, I remember it. I was vistiting friends in the Pines, and was spending a couple of hours at the disco one night. Across the room, I noticed an acquaintance of mine, the writer George Whitmore, dancing up a storm and inhaling liberally from a poppers bottle which he kept in the pocket of his jeans. Somehow in the course of the evening, the bottle broke, and the contents spilled all over George’s leg, giving him a terrible and very unsightly burn. It made me wonder what kind of damage inhaling the stuff must do.”

And poppers are still causing blood poisoning, heart attacks and blindness to this day.

“Both the popularity of and legal tolerance for poppers have led to the perception that these drugs are relatively innocuous.1 Here, we describe four patients who were seen within a few months of one another and who had prolonged visual loss as a result of damage to foveal photoreceptors shortly after inhaling poppers.
In January 2010, Patient 1, a 27-year-old woman, presented with an 11-day history of a reduction in bilateral vision and a “central bright dot” in both eyes. The night before the onset of symptoms, she had attended a party, at which both she and Patient 2 had inhaled poppers (brand name, Jungle Juice) and consumed approximately half a bottle of high-grade alcohol.”

The reality is that a lot of gay guys were having a disco to end all disco’s while the Reagan Christians surround them in a few ghetto’s and put the voodoo on them even more
The other logical ‘this poison could cause AIDS’ claim is that during the early 1980′s Hot Oil sexual lubricants were sold with Benzenes to gays in particular with levels that would cause immune failure and cancers.

Stephen Byrnes writing in 1997 provided an example of the Spanish oil incident where people just withered away and wasted from benzene poisoning.

“In short, the victims of TOS became ill from ingesting benzene-contaminated olive oil. The symptoms of this condition were virtually identical to American pellagra: immunosuppression, fever, chills, sweats, rashes, eosinophilia, muscle wasting, cough, dyspnea, muscle cramps, dry eyes and mouth, skin lesions, dementia, peripheral neuropathy, pneumonia, chronic hepatitis, lymph swelling, and opportunistic infections. Additionally, cellular and immunological abnormalities occurred: an inversion of CD4/CD8 cell ratios, production of autoantibodies to collagen DNA, and reduced T and B cellular responses to mitogens. It was proposed that the autoantibody production was the result of an increase in the CD4/CD8 T cell ratios.

While it is true that the first cases of AIDS, called GRID back then, were reported to the CDC in 1981 by Dr. Michael Gottlieb, the first cases of KS and AIDS were seen in the gay community beginning in 1978 and the mysterious new disease seemed to only strike two groups of people: bottoms (passive in anal intercourse), and “fistees” (those who liked to be fisted, or have someone’s fist and arm anally inserted into them). Exclusive tops were not affected, unless they were heavy drug users. Those with a preference for oral sex, giving or receiving, may have gotten other venereal ailments, but they did not catch the new disease. What was it that bottoms and fistees had in common, besides poppers to relax the smooth muscles of the anus? Lubricant and lots of it if they were promiscuous.
Were new lubricants introduced to the gay community in 1978? Previously, gay men had used KY jelly, Crisco, or baby oil for anal sex but in 1978 there were new lubricants introduced and heavily marketed to the gay community, viz., Lube and Performance, as advertisements in back issues of gay periodicals show. As a matter of fact, 1978 marked the dawn of “special” lubricants, both “hot” and regular, formulated for and used by gay men. They were all oil-based and contained very high amounts of acetone and benzoic acid in them. The oils were, like the bad olive oil in Madrid, “denatured.” Curiously, as these lubricants became available to gay men in other countries, via mail order, AIDS began to appear in those places.

And to this day FDA regulation of lubricants is questionable, I know one at my supermarket contains anti-freeze to get the ‘hot’ feel..

“Although most people will list only K-Y Jelly when asked to recall the names of personal lubricants, hundreds of the products are being used for sex across the globe. These sex aids are designed to make things easier. So it’s a little unsettling that experiments carried out in recent years have indicated that some of the products might be smoothing the way for disease transmission.
Used to reduce friction and increase pleasure during intercourse, lubricants are about a $ 219 million market in the U.S. alone, according to the Chicago-based market research firm SymphonyIRI Group.
But a handful of studies have called into question the safety of these sex aids, although none have shown cut-and-dried proof of risk. Some of the experiments have shown that personal lubricants can damage cells lining both the vagina and rectum, potentially making the body more vulnerable to sexually transmitted infections (STIs). And one epidemiological investigation, published early this year, reported that participants who consistently used personal lubricants for rectal intercourse had a higher prevalence of STIs, such as chlamydia, than inconsistent users (Sex. Transm. Dis., DOI: 10.1097/olq.0b013e318235502b).

“Ingredients to avoid
Though this list isn’t by any means complete, some questionable ingredients include: parabens, petrochemicals, benzene derivatives such as sodium benzoate, methyl, ethyl and propylparaben, and benzoate of soda. Boric acid, salicylates and cinnamic aldehyde (an ingredient used in ‘hot’ lubricants) are also questionable.

Then there are still shocking amounts of hydroquinone being used by black women without anyone telling them?

“Attention is drawn to the widespread use of bleaching preparations by Black women. These products often contain hydroquinone. They act efficiently as bleaching agents, but chronic oversaturation of the skin with hydroquinone eventually produces ochronosis. This complication has reached epidemic proportions in the Transvaal. Although the assay of hydroquinone in cosmetic products has not yet been standardized, we present some provisional results. The clinical, social and industrial aspects are also significant.”

Hydroquinone is still on sale.

“Usually associated with use in skin lighteners, especially those products marketed to women of color, hydroquinone may also be a contaminant in other cosmetics ingredients. Linked to cancer and organ-system toxicity, it is one of the most toxic ingredients used in personal care products.”

People will say “But what about Africa? Aren’t they all dying from HIV?”
Well not all of the Africans are dying from HIV.
But housing and the food situation is desperate in South Africa, the ‘AIDS country’ and it is no wonder people get sick.
I feel lucky.
In Australia of course there is no AIDS we are walking steaks from the night before, the burger at lunch, the bacon and eggs for breakfast, Chiko roll and Breaker at tea, no worries here.
It’s hardly appropriate to be saving up to give these people drugs like AZT and Nevirapine when they are starving and the more money spent on these toxic drugs the less there will be for any real hospital services.

Food Bank SA spokesman Keri Uys said yesterday: “South Africa is in dire straights. The entire country is affected. It is not just rural areas.
“Every day millions of people go to be bed hungry. There are children whose daily food is half a white-bread sandwich. How can you bring up a nation on this?”
“The implication is a death sentence.”

South Africa is basically a mining dump with lots of pesticides from farming thrown everywhere too.

“Feeding schemes based on school garden produce have been proposed as an effective solution to food insecurity and hunger among learners in South Africa. However, few studies have looked at the potential contamination of school food gardens when situated near mine tailing dams.”

“Results. High levels of arsenic were found in the school soil samples, and elevated concentrations of lead and mercury in the school vegetables. Calculation of the estimated daily intake for a child of 30 kg, however, indicated that levels of lead, mercury and arsenic in vegetables were within acceptable limits. However, the levels of lead in the vegetable samples were high across all three sites.
Conclusion. Further investigation and research should be undertaken to assess the source/s and extent of public exposure to heavy metals in vegetables in South Africa.”

The miners who worked for years without gasmasks have silicosis and they get TB from the mines and going back home to the slums.

“Older in‐service gold miners in South Africa have a high prevalence of PTB, which is significantly associated with dust and silica exposure, even in the absence of silicosis. Limitations include a survivor workforce and the use of cumulative exposures based on current exposures. Dust control is an important component in control of the PTB epidemic in South African gold mines.”

While the people in Johannesburg are sitting on a rising arsenic water supply, no one seems to be watching.

“Millions of litres of highly acidic mine water is rising up under Johannesburg and, if left unchecked, could spill out into its streets some 18 months from now, Parliament’s water affairs portfolio committee heard on Wednesday.
The acid water is currently about 600m below the city’s surface, but is rising at a rate of between 0.6 and 0,9m a day, water affairs deputy director water quality management Marius Keet told MPs.
“[It] can have catastrophic consequences for the Johannesburg central business district if not stopped in time. A new pumping station and upgrades to the high-density sludge treatment works are urgently required to stop disaster,” he warned.”

I’m sure there are more problems like no jobs, no unemployment benefit, depression, crime, drug use, smoking, drinking, stress, I don’t live there but will statistics like these you don’t need HIV to do the job.
“It found that, in Johannesburg, 43% of the poor faced starvation and malnutrition. Researchers believe the figure could be higher.”

Anyway the end result of Gottlieb’s 1981 failure to mention Nitrates as a cause of AIDS was every virologist in town and media outlet went orgasmic over Gottlieb’s ‘New Virus’ and by the time Robert Gallo held his press conference about HIV causing AIDS in 1984 everyone was hypnotised by their voodoo magic which continues to caste it’s spell to this day….

“The first recognized cases of AIDS were reported in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) on June 5, 1981. I recall this report vividly. A few months earlier, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) had begun sending an advance copy of the MMWR text to state health departments. The advance text of the June 5 MMWR had a lead article on the sudden and unexplained finding of five apparently unrelated cases of Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia in five young gay men from Los Angeles. The MMWR text was received in my office just before our weekly Tuesday afternoon staff meeting was to start. I handed the text to Tom Ault, who was responsible for the state’s venereal disease field unit and asked him to have some of our federal- or state-assigned staff in Los Angeles assist in the investigation of these cases. I remember saying to him that it may not turn out to be much of anything, but it may be the start of something. I never imagined that that something would eventually develop into a worldwide epidemic of disease and death.
In the ensuing weeks and months, it became apparent that the mysterious illness reported from Los Angeles was also present among gay men in San Francisco.”

The dead might have something else to say about it??

“Those who have eyes to see are witnessing genocide-the genocide of gay men. Millions of dollars are now being spent on an international advertising campaign, “Living With HIV”, in which gay men and other members of “risk groups” are being told:
Get tested for antibodies to HIV [the alleged "AIDS virus"] — if you “test positive” you need “medical intervention” which could “put time on your side”. The “medical intervention” is AZT (also known as Retrovir and zidovudine), and the campaign is paid for, directly and indirectly, by Burroughs-Wellcome, the manufacturer of AZT.
The campaign consists of a phoney diagnosis followed by a lethal treatment. Already tens of thousands of objectively healthy gay men have been scared and bullied and bamboozled into taking AZT, allegedly in order to “slow the progression to AIDS”. Optimism regarding their prognosis would be foolish. Except for the lucky few who stop “treatment” in time, they will die. Death is the expected biochemical consequence of taking AZT, for the fundamental action of the drug is to terminate DNA synthesis, the very life process itself. As Joseph Sonnabend has stated, “AZT is incompatible with life”. Without a single benefit demonstrated by honest and competent research, AZT can do nothing but kill.”
